' Cheque cleared, ETD 3 or 4 weeks' regards....

ONLY a little OVER 30 days to make a simple kydex sheath? Who are you kidding??? A kydex sheath should be made, and out the door in a couple of weeks, tops...Unless he is GROWING his own kydex..

Dan....I disagree in this case. I personally know Mike and his Kydex rigs are not just pressed to the individual knife like the other 99.9%.....each is hand fit, tweaked, tweaked again.....until it is perfect and works for the task designed.

Each of his sheaths are HIGHLY tuned. This and his schedule add to the delays.

We tend to think as sheaths as an accessory....any many times that is all they are.....but not in the case of Mike Sastre.....they are as integral as the knife itself....each custom made....and worth the wait.

He gets them out remarkably quick compared to the wait time on an average custom knife.

don't send money until the sheath is ready...isn't that the same with most custom knifemakers? you don't send the money until the knife is ready / close to delivery.

anyways, hope there's a satisfactory resolution on both sides. personally, I think some communication may have been in order....

The issue here is still communication. His work is in-demand. And as his business grows he will experience growing pains. The question is; will this be a wake up call for an adjustment in business practice, or an indicator of things to come. Sounds like Mike needs OPEN from American Express Small Business :D

I've never done Business with the guy,But bought the Rob Patton Foxbat prototype and it came with a RCS.I've got to say it's an Excellent sheath and doesn't look simple like other Kydex I've seen. It's a well thought out Concealable sheath that doesn't do too much damage to the blade finish.I mostly go through Survival Sheath Systems and the turn around time is usually 3-4 weeks. How long have you been waiting? If I've learned anything from collecting custom knives and getting sheaths made It's Patience. But there Is a Limit to it.

One thing we've stressed time after time is that when doing business via the internet, COMMUNICATION IS PARAMOUNT!

This is a two way street. Both parties need to ask questions, and come to an agreement before work is started, or money is mailed.

We've all seen the complaints about lack of communication, and quite frankly, the lack thereof has tarnished the reputation of a few makers, and outright ruined the reputation of some. All because they failed to communicate with their customers. (Some had other circumstances as well, but I digress.)

I will agree here; Sastre makes an excellent product, and has a great reputation. However, it is his lack of communication that creates uncertany, and questions his intentions. Mike isn't the only person to have his motives questioned like this, and he certainly won't be the last. Mike needs to reply to emails and or phone calls, and put Dan, and his other customers at ease.

Again, communication with your customer is paramount, and quite frankly, there isn't very many good excuses not to.

I Completely Agree with Code3!!! My money don't leave my wallet until I Thouroghly Communicate My Wants, and Needs, and have come to an agreement(From Both Sides)with whom-ever I'm dealing with.
