I have both but since the clones were so plentiful I bought a clone first to see if i'd like the platform. I carry the clone 80% of the time because functionally I can't tell a difference and I'm not afraid to use it to open boxes or cut rope as needed because the steel is much softer the n690 and easier to sharpen.
