I was expecting to break in the Rucki on some nice green trees in the woods during warm weather, it was kind of cold today and the leaves are falling

This is most excellent. I haven't ordered or even pre-ordered a Busse family knife in a long time. Haven't felt the reason to, but I think this fits the bill. It will definitely replace my short machetes and choppers. Glad I saw this before I bought a BWM.

Quick question for all of you who are in the know: how well does tanker gray hold up compared to black? I ordered one of each but fondly remember many months of using my Satin Jack with very little noticeable wear to the coating. I also remember the Mud Razor I had for like 3 months that would lose its coating quickly and with very little use. Not sure where gray fits on this durability scale.

I had tanker grey on my NMSFNO and it held up to wear pretty well until I started batoning with it. You'll get grooves in it but it sticks to the blade pretty good. The tanker grey is also about the closest thing to a smooth coat you'll find which cuts down on drag when cutting.


I plan on having the coating on my Rucki for a week or two before I strip it

Yes! You should send me some of your Busse n Kin so I won't feel as anxious ; the biggest BusseKin I have so far is my Rodent Solution, so I am kinda tweaking for something BIG and chopperific..
