Rodent Solution pics!!!

Eric,
Would it be possible to get a side by side comparison pic with a HRLM? I am giving the RS some thought. Thanks.

Here you go, threw in a HCLE 4.0 and a BAD for comparison as well

Nice. Think I should have got a HCLE 4.0 now. WTF? This addiction never ends.

Thanks Eric,
Nice shot. I bought the HRLM as a skinner. The rodent solution would be good too, I would think. I will ponder this some more. The price is more than reasonable.

Still waiting for the mail lady. Hope she gets here before I leave for work.

edited to add:

I'm speechless. I wish I could say it's because of my new knife, but it's not. I've been sitting here putting off going and getting something to eat and getting ready for work for fear of missing the mail lady since it's signature confirmation. I hear the mail lady pull up, shut the mail box, and then leave. I'm thinking she must have just left it in the box. I put my shoes on and head for the mail box and I find some junk mail and one of those "sorry we missed you" slips. She was too lazy to walk up to my door! Guess I'll go pick it up tomorrow. Sorry for venting.

Hi, long time Swamp Rat owner, first time posting on this particular forum. Just got my Solution (sage blade, tan canvas handles) in the mail today and am absolutely impressed. Incredible what you get for the price; great job SR! I prefer smaller EDC-sized fixed blades and this one nails it right on the head. It's going to be perfect for camping. I was a little concerned that I wouldn't like it when I looked at the pictures because the handle looks too big compared to the blade, but it really balances well and fills the hand without being bulky. Also, I was a bit concerned with the 3/16" thickness, but it works out perfectly here. The full flat grind really helps. Definitely getting one (or two or three) more! So, here are some quick pics for your pleasure. Hope you all enjoy.

Jeff

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

I found the same thing that you did, the handle really feels great in the hand. Much better than what you anticipate from the pics. This blade is going to be a huge hit

:D:D

Oh man I eagerly await getting my confirmation order email now! I sent in an order yesterday but forgot to say how many I wanted just Black Micarta and Black blade. Hope fully the dont make me to many :D

Thanks so much man. I really appreciate it. I can't wait to get home to see it.

Hey- great pics man. Thx for sharing the pics for those who have it on pre order and havnt received yet. Cant wait for this edc. I really like that combo too with sage blade and the tan micarta. I typically really like the black micarta only. Those pics are making me want to email Eric for another. lol. gratz on yer solution.

Thanks for the pics Jeff! I have a couple on the way myself  I'm curious about the edge on this one. Is it nice and thinned out or do you feel like you'll need to re-prophile it. How does the edge compare to say the ESEE-3 you have pictured there? Thanks!

gottahaveit, the edge is a bit thinner than what I've encountered on other Swamp Rat knives. Definitely will be getting a reprofile job in the near future though; the tip could use a little work. The ESEE-3 has a considerably thinner edge after I convexed it, but it was only slightly thinner when it came from the factory than the Solution. I am really looking forward to putting a high convex edge on this knife; it seems like it will be a perfect combination of toughness and cutting ability. It'll never outcut that BRKT gunny though:) That is about as thin of an edge as I can get on a knife this thick. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Jeff

EDIT: forgot to add that the ESEE 3 is substantially thinner at 1/8", and the high flat grind does allow for a thinner overall cutting profile than you will get with the Solution. I think an 1/8" thick Solution would be just about unbeatable.
