Ron Hood - Hood's Woods?

One of my favorite vids is vol 17 Buffalo Butchers series and not because my knife is in it either. :D Thanks to Brian for talking me into sending Ron a knife to evaluate. Ron really helped me immensely by promoting my work and all the encouragement he gave me. Alot of Hoodlums have become very good friends also. I've watched several of his DVD and really liked Survival Camping with Rob Simonich.

Scott, you're welcome, brother! As soon as I saw your work I knew it was going to be a grand slam out-of-the-ballpark! My PSK, Jr. is in for a treat soon. I'm going to hit the woods and practice doing things with it, and to it, that only big knives are usually used for. This little thing cuts and performs way beyond its size, and it is actually uncanny how it does that...

I did however read the articles which I found interesting.I would like to know if any of you have any DVD's and what you think of them.

The forum is active, I was just there.

I got most of mine before they were on DVD, so I have Woodsmaster Vol 1-12 and Cave Cooking 1 on VHS, and Woodsmaster 13 & 14, Urban Master 1 & 2, and Cave Cooking 2-4 on DVD.

IMO they are very good, or else I wouldn't have bought more after my first order. :D

I have 12 dvds so far and enjoy all of them. 8 of the woodsmaster, 2 cooking and both Urban Master. Just as the previous guys have said they are likeable folks.

Now that I know Brian is in Solo Survival, I need to re-watch it.

Trace, that Armageddon was an amazing, amazing blade, my friend! it felt light and fast, but it chopped effortlessly, and held an edge superbly. One of my favorite big blades of all time, brother!

Thanks bro, I appreciate it alot. I'm hoping sometime in the future to be able to offer them on a midtech/production basis. Same materials and HT, same feel, same everything, except for the price, which will be lower.;)

I figured out a while ago there was NO WAY I was gonna keep up with demand on them doing everything myself by hand. ALOT of that is due to Ron's video's too..
When it happens I will be sure to get one in your hands to check out.

I'll also add that the videos are not only informative but also entertraining. While I would watch a dry instructional video about a topic I'm interested in learning, most people won't.

My brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and my sister all liked the Woodsmaster videos they saw, but most of them liked Cave Cooking more. Usually they wouldn't even sit through a few minutes of a survival training video.

Ok, just skip the tomahawk throwing part at the end. :D I still gotta get payback from Ron for that one.

Trace, I would LOVE to check it out when you got it up and running!

My kids LOVE those videos. A lot of TV/video stuff, I question how much good it does for the kids to be watching--but sometimes it's handy to make use of it as what parents call the "square-headed babysitter". Solution? Pop in a Woodsmaster video--and the kids are fascinated--and they're learning stuff that will set them up well with the most-basic life skills. (As long as you get it into their heads that they are NOT allowed to make a field-expedient Viet Cong crossbow on the second-grade playground, or snare their little sister, or demonstrate their firemaking skills during math class . . . .)

Trace, as soon as you have your production set up, you have a customer...

Thank's man... I will keep you guys posted. It will be a while yet, but I'm really looking forward to producing more of my designs, instead of turning work away because I cant keep up with demand.;)

Will that include the LEO and other smaller knives? IMO the LEO is just about the ideal "fixed blade pocketknife."

Not to hijack this thread, but yeah Ben. Eventually I want to be producing just about all of my fixed blade designs. I will still continue custom work also with more of a focus on folders. BTW the LEO is one of my personal favorites.

for any pirates in the crowd i will say Karen Hood is a looker in those cave cooking vids;):D

Karen is definitely a looker!

Anyway, found these cell-phone-cam pictures from a past SHOT show - I think it was 95. I was still recovering from my car accident.

Here's Karen, Ron, and I - I think first time we saw each other since doing Solo Survival:

Next, Ron and I posed for a picture Karen was taking, when our pal Kelly Worden jumped into the SHOT just before the pic was snapped (Kelly is a ham. You can tell he's a natural at "photobombing," jumping in at last minute). We look like the three cheeses here:

Karen is a Fox!;-) She definitely brings some much needed beauty to the video's..lol
Kelly is a cool mo fo... He could prolly kill you with a ham.!

Ha!!! I had to go back and check that again...the first time I saw it I was saying to myself "man, that dude is queer...he throws like a freaking girl and can't hit the broad side of a barn":D:D:D

Now that you're a moderator, I'll retract those previous comments:D

LOL. Was it the limp wrist release of the tomahawk or the fact that I was FRIGGIN DOING THREE TO FIVE SPIN ATTEMPTS? :D
