If you want to get a feeling for the Hoods Videos maybe try the free trial membership to Huntflix. I personally enjoyed videos by John and Gerri McPherson aka Prairie Wolf better than I enjoyed the Hood videos. Because I am into a more primitive survival scene. I really enjoyed my subscription to Huntflix. The only problem being you can annoy the mrs. by watching too many videos.
Hey Aquacopter, I am interested in both primitive skills and wilderness survival (with toys

). I agree with you that the McPherson videos are excellent (other than John's monotone

) but so are Hood's. The McPherson's really have nothing on traps and snares on video, unless there's something in Primitive Wilderness Skills Applied (I don't have this video). The McPherson's have nothing on PSK's, Hood does. Now you can say that if you have the skills, you don't need a PSK. Rather I agree with Andre Francois Bourbeau, that the people who can make fire without matches (and I can), never forget to take matches (and I don't), or something like that.
McPherson's are very informative, but are not easy to watch. This is not meant to put down John McPherson in any way as I respect the man, but his voice puts me to sleep. Hood's are much more enjoyable and easier to watch. This can be important if you're trying to interest people who have less passion about this stuff than we do. Also, although some of the information overlaps, there is really isn't any/a lot of duplication, at least with the videos that I own.
I have Hood's videos 1-11 and 2 of Karen's Cave Cooking 1 & 3. McPherson's -1,2,3,6, & 10. Actually, in looking at McPherson's web site, I may order the PWS Applied.
Fortunately a choice doesn't have to be made between Hood and McPherson -I get them both!
