). I agree with you that the McPherson videos are excellent (other than John's monotone ) but so are Hood's. The McPherson's really have nothing on traps and snares on video, unless there's something in Primitive Wilderness Skills Applied (I don't have this video). The McPherson's have nothing on PSK's, Hood does. Now you can say that if you have the skills, you don't need a PSK. Rather I agree with Andre Francois Bourbeau, that the people who can make fire without matches (and I can), never forget to take matches (and I don't), or something like that.
DOC, making the videos with Ron and Karen is a hoot! If you think he's funny on-camera, you have to hang around him off-camera. Plus, there was LOTS of funny footage and outtakes that will never see the light of day, and that stuff is beyond funny...

I think the best video of the series is Volume 11: Solo Survival. Not because I'm featured in it or anything.
Seriously, they are probably the best resource for learning skills if you cannot train in person with someone. Seeing Ron dispel myths perpetrated in many books and showing better ways to do things, plus tricks only learned from dirttime, is a pleasure. The drawings in books are often inadequate or unclear for learning skills. Try signing up again for the forum. It's quite active.
