I'll let the images tell the story. This was one of the knives I dropped on at the Solvang Show today, and I got lucky. What a beauty. And my second feather damascus in a week, how'd that happen??!! Oh, sorry, I couldn't figure out which images were best, so here are a bunch. And yet another Paul Long sheath!

More to come about the show, friends I saw, other knives, etc - hopefully this week.

The technicality of that piece is just mind-blowing and overwhelming. I'm in awe. The fact that it's a NY Special is even more amazing; they hold a special place in my heart.

that has got to be one of the coolest knives I've ever seen!
Bob, I try not to be covetous, but I'll admit that I am when it comes to this knife.

Ron's take on the NY Special is just awesome! Great knife Bob, thanks for posting it up! I really enjoy the multi-directional pics

Why yes, Robert, I do believe I remember fondling that little piece in my shop recently. The damascus on that thing is just spectacular and the build ain't bad either. Now, that's two great ones in one week.....give the other boys a chance.:D

Yes, that's an amazing knife from an execution perspective, actually from every perspective. ;)

Congrats Bob, great acquisition. What are the dimensions?

That's spectacular, Bob.
The sheath equals the knife.
Really a fantastic package.
Thanks for sharing !

That is, arguably, THE most incredible knife I have ever seen. It is spectacular in every way. Congrats!

That is pretty wild. Variation of a theme by Sfreddo.;) I know that there is a method for fitting up that handle because Rodrigo has taught other people how to do it, but I can't figure out how you do it.

Fantastic! Love that fountain of pattern emulating from the handle up through the tip. As Kevin mentioned, Excellence in Execution. Congrats Bob!

What a terrific piece! Love the feather running all the way through. Congrats!

Roger

Terrific piece, Bob, congratulations. Ron is one of my favorite makers, his talent always awes me. I can't think of a better way to clothe it than that sheath by Paul.

This piece is ALL from one billet of damascus, no welded joints. I would love to see how that handle is fit.
Ron had a somewhat similar piece at the Arkansas Show and unfortunately I never got around to speaking with him on the construction.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL knife/damascus. I instantly thought of Rodrigo Sfreddo's knives when seeing the handle fitment.

Perhaps he will see this and comment. When I saw a similar fitment on his knives, I was amazed and asked how he was able to get that level of precision. If I recall correctly, his reply was there was no special technique or tooling, but achieved it through the use of hand tools.

CONGRATS Bob!

Peter
