Wow. Let's see it on the second page:

This is one of those pieces that makes knife lovers oohh and ahh, and non-knife people.... ooh and ahhh. Transcending.

Bravo to all. (Bob: Nice clear photos. High marks. :))

Yes, that's an amazing knife from an execution perspective, actually from every perspective. ;)

Congrats Bob, great acquisition. What are the dimensions?

Kevin, it's a pretty typical size. Overall it's 7 3/8" with 3 1/4" cutting edge.

And Mark, it was fun seeing you, and as always, a pleasure, coming all the way from right around where I was raised.

Bob,

It's nice to see you finally collecting Damascus knives!

OOH AAH :-) I like that gold pin in the bottom of the handle. Does it go through to the top side?

Hi Mike-

Ron had two of these at the Solvang show, but I found this one the most compelling of the two, based on the wood and the feathering. The other one was either blackwood or ebonywood, probably the former. This ironwood, as well as the overall knife, struck me as the best of the two (IMHO) so it's the one I dropped on.

I perused both knives and believe I would have noticed if the pin(s) was absent from the other. So I'm pretty sure that both knives had the pin, though not sure the other would have been gold. And I am equally not sure if the pin goes all the way through. If I remember, I'll ask Ron.

Best,

Bob

VERY nice! Beautiful materials, interesting handle design!

Very nice sheath as well.

Kind regards,

Jos

Absolutely beautiful. Everything about it is just perfect. The feather pattern really is something, so energetic. Like others have said, the sheath really does compliment the knife.

very beautiful knife and sheath!!!
Thanks for posting such god pics so we can enjoy this master piece as well.

Thanks for that shot Roger. I must have had too much drool on the screen to notice. An incredible piece, without a doubt.

I like Ron....a lot.....but I don't like this knife.

R.W. Loveless was adamant about many design elements of his knives.....this knife contravenes those elements in that the integral "collar" is absent as on a D. Kressler knife which more closely follows the original design and the odd, hollow looking grind for the integral, rather than being "stepped" as in a Loveless. Lastly, I can't tell from the photo if the grind lines are exceedingly crisp, which is a required element of a Loveless style knife.

Best Regards,

Steven Garsson

The shaping of the wood to the "bolster" is extremely well executed, and a woundrous design element.

It's always nice to see Ron's work. The key hole intergrals I'm seeing from Ron and Jimmy of late have been quite splendid.

Bob, I agree with those posters who like it a ton.. It's such a unique design, and the flow of the damascus, from the tip to oval cutout in the handle, gives off a feel as if it is actually moving... I think the whole package is a grand slam.. Well done Ron Newton, and to Bob for such a solid addition to your collection... Best Regards, Rich
