Rookie??

I don't have one of the new Sprint run, but I do have an original in G-10 and one in stainless. They are about the size of a Delica, but the handle is shorter and the blade is longer. It is quite a bit more narrow as well, putting the handle at the small end of what I find comfortable. Overall, it is a solid little knife that packs as much blade into the handle as you can get.

I have an original stainless one. It gets carried when 4+ inches of blade might draw too much attention. Great little knife, very solid.

Got a couple of old school G10 Rookies/SE.

Great little knife:cool:

Wish the current VG10 version came in full SpyderEdge,

I've got one of the earlier Stainless Steel models and I think it's up there as one of Spyderco's best designs ever. I really like the overall size and amount of blade relative to overall length. The SS model is very slim and easy in the pocket. My hands are medium/large and I find the knife to fit me prety well. G10 would likely offer better grip, though. I don't think the tip would be as stout as that on the Delica, but I've never had any issues with mine. To be honest, I don't carry mine as often as I once did, but that's only because I don't have a replacement. If the original all-steel version was current production, it would probably be in my pocket.

I just got the rookie in foliage green a few days ago. I like he knife, especially for its size. It really just disappears in your pocket. There is a good bit of play in the blade however. I'm going to have to see about getting something to adjust the screw on the handle and see if that fixes that. Also the clip is insanely tight. Other than that, I have no complaints about it.

Strangely though, it seems to be a darker shade of foliage green than the D2 Para I got recently  Weird.

Thanks guys, sounds good. I have been looking at the Rookie, Para Mil, Caly 3 and the Tenacious. I want something that is going to carry well, not be to bulky, but still with a decent blade. I was origanaly only looking at the Para Military, but it seems the handle might be a bit to big.

I should be able to get a look at all of these, so will decide when I get to feel them all.

Thanks, Nick.

I have 2 older Rookies but never carry them as I consider them collectables. Very similar in size to the Delica which is one of my favorite EDC knives. Having said that, I do think the Rookie is much "sexier" (for lack of a better word) than the Delicas.

It's a good investment. You won't be sorry. The ParaMil does have a big handle, but the compression lock is sweet. I have a PM with a plain edge and it's a real slicer. The Tenacious is a good bang for the buck.

.....If the original all-steel version was current production, it would probably be in my pocket.

Ditto! I have an original SE all steel version. Always wish I could get a plain edged on of the originals. Great knife btw. It was my first spyderco knife and I'd love another steel one!

i like this knife... fantastic for its size and packs a lot of blade length in its handle... i dont have one but i have handled one before and personally its just too small for me... i like my endura and my scorpius and i dont like a handle too much smaller than that... this knife is quite a bit narrower than the delica but if smaller is your taste then there isnt anything that is much better... not too mention spyderco will never let you down

awesome knife but a little small for my taste... smaller than you might think but if amaller is your taste then it doesnt get much better... not to mention spyderco will never let you down... i am just partial to my endura and my scorpius and i dont like a handle much smaller than that

Well I had a look at the Tenacious yesterday, very impressive for the price. I should get to look at the Rookie and the Para Mil soon, I have a sneaking suspission I might end up with both haha..

i also ended up buying both the d2 para and a FG rookie. like them both. actually i love the para, the rookie i don't like as much as i thought i would. it's still a nice knife. however i just received a CF Caly 3 today, so it's almost certain that i'll be selling my rookie now. don't get me wrong, it's a nice knife, i was just able to find one that i like better.

I have one of the new ones and I love it. Yeah its kind of on the small side but for everyday tasks its a fantastic little knife and I love the way it looks and the feel of the G10 scales. Great little knife.

got one in my hand right now, i really like it, it fits my hand fine and is very comfortable to carry, i also hava a Para but for edc it is too big to fit in my pocket comfortably. my only complaint is how tight the clip is which is not that big of a deal
