Rough Blade Shape without a bandsaw...

Same here. I bought the cheap bandsaw from HF and mounted it to a piece of angle iron which I clamp in a vise. Works well.

Some threads here scare me away from using an angle grinder.
 
I can cut out a blank with an angle grinder or bandsaw in the same amount of time. I use the bandsaw as its cheaper in the long run (discs wear faster than blades) and its a lot less messy in terms of dust and sparks.
