Rough Rider & Related Slipjoints

I just received the Micarta Stockman in the mail.
I'm happy I finally got a decent knife from this brand. The fit and finish is pretty good, a little rough but nothing to really complain about for the price. The spring is proud when the main blade is open and the pins are also a little proud. The blades themselves are very nice and the pull/snap is really crisp. The spey rubs like crazy and I have to force it closed. Overall I'd give it a C+ and I plan to keep this one.

Could the "Hand Made" on the shield explain things?
You'll never see that on a SAK, for example.
I may be mistaken, but it appears that if "hand made" regardless of brand, there are sometimes defects that get out the door...

I'm not complaining, it's the best example I've gotten from them in five or six purchases.

well … the Marbles MR417 (2 blade) Imitation Stag folding hunter arrived a couple days early. :)

Unexpectedly, it came with a rather nice (black) nylon sheath/belt pouch, so it is on my belt now. The Buck 110 I normally carry deserves a vacation.

Over-all, I am impressed with this knife.
No noticeable gaps anywhere, blades are arm hair shaving sharp out of the box, and have nice even grinds.
The pull on both blades is a smooth "6" in my opinion. There are no half stops.
There is no blade wiggle on either blade.
Walk and Talk on both blades is excellent.
Both blades have a match strike nail nick.
The blades are not perfectly centered. (Big deal! That don't bother me none. I can't see that "defect" (note quotes) when using it, or when its in the sheath.) The blades don't rub on each other or the liners, so slightly uncentered blades do not affect the functionality.
I did buy this as a "user", not a display piece.

For under $20 including tax and shipping, I got no complaints. It will make a fine EDC.

I should mention the Marbles MR417 is not a teeny tiny wimpy knife.
At 5.25 inches closed, it is larger than a Buck 110. :)
I don't have a scale, but my guess is it weighs a tiny bit more than a standard brass and wood 110.

I'm happy with it. I suspect it will stay on my belt until at least February … probably longer. :)

EDIT:
Oh YEAH!
I almost forgot. The imitation stag looks a lot better in person, than in the listing's photos. :)

Seller is non-supporting dealer, so I won't mention their name, or the non-supporting website I found this knife on.

So...hello again!
This is my second post here. :) As you all know from previous post, I received a RR swayback from a forum member.
I did a few modifications previously, and thought I would continue.
I decided to contour the covers and knock off all the edges and polish up the bolsters...also decided to inlay some MOP. Im excited. :) So here are a couple of photos. Time to re-tie a fob. :)

(For those of you who are OCD and a perfectionist like myself, yes, unfortunately the middle MOP inlay is off by a hair. Really bugs me. Lol. Wont make me stop carrying tho. First time doing inlays, so overall I learned something and I’m pretty happy with the result.)

Really? Are you sure?

Looks like a great job to me. :)

Thank you sir...and yes...just off. Me and the MOP. Hahaha!! I was trying to curve the inlays with the handle shape.
Thank you for your kinda words.
I’ll do better next time. :)

Love it. Love it anytime someone disregards the cost of a knife and puts in some effort just because they like it! Did I ever show you the RR Improved Muskrat (superb pattern btw) that Glennbad did for me? I picked up some bone linen micarta and he rescaled it for me. Admittedly the whole process from materials to shipping cost about 3X the knife but I loved the outcome! I ended up doing a GAW on this thread so I'm hoping that it's still out there in the wild and being used! Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery as you can see the love for wharncliffe's and wharniefoots extends beyond the PIF thread for me, lol.

Question:

Are my six (with bifocals) ancient vintage antique eyes deceiving me?
It looks like all my Rough Rider (and related) have full flatgrind blades; not a hollowgrind.

I can also see your folding hunter if I "control-click" the little question mark in a blue field and select "Open image in new tab".:thumbsup: I agree with Nixelplix Nixelplix ; that's a good-looking knife; I really like the stag bone handles!:cool::thumbsup:

Are you trying from a pc or phone? Using imgur from my phone (I dont have a pc) from imgur once you get a window that gives you a option that says "copy url" click that then paste it in where you click the picture icon.
I can actually click your picture and upload it as well like this

Awesome looking knife btw! I had to hold on the broken image icon in your post above until it gave me a window that let me open it in another window

Thank you for posting it.
I copied and pasted the the address in the address bar using the picture icon on my first try.
Second try there was a different URL, when I clicked the picture at Imgur, so I tried that one, using the picture icon.
Third try was the BBC code, again using the picture icon.

I'm using my laptop. My (allegedly) "smart" phone can't upload to Imgur.
