Rough Rider & Related Slipjoints

I sincerely hope that they plan to make a carbon steel line of knives. At their inexpensive price point they could make for great entry level knives, into the world of carbon steel, and also could prove be useful in experimenting with patinas.

This new swing-guard lock back looks pretty cool.

I've been eying this one for a while now. For $10 I decided to take the plunge. It's my first large stockman pattern knife. Admittedly I was a bit surprised even after reading the specs. I now understand why this is often referred to as a working knife. It dwarfs my other two stockman knives. One is a small Case and the other is a medium Winchester cheapie. The fit and finish is very good. The scales do have some variation in color towards the edges. The center is bright yellow and the edges are more of a creamy yellow. It's not very noticeable in person or the pics. The blades are sharp and all have good snap, cap lifter included. I'm very pleased with this knife. It rides in the back pocket alongside my wallet very well.

I think I need this one too!!!

I think I need this one too!!!

No kidding! That looks like the perfect knife for my tool bags and tool box. I love that cap lifter as it can be used for a lot of other things, especially when ended with a flat blade screwdriver.

I will order mine shortly. Thanks for the post, mr bad!

Looks like a pretty imaginative pattern to eye. Very well thought out, RR is on a roll. A number of people seem to think highly of them in this part of the world

I was looking through about 40 pages of RR knives on a US site yesterday. Hadn't realised there were so many patterns produced. Unfortunately we only get a few here. Don't know why considering they charge at least twice as much for them.

Bring on the carbon! :)

The one pattern that I don't see in the RR series is a one blade/cap lifter screw driver. Something on the line of a canoe with a blade on one end and the cap lifter on the other. It would be a small, light, low profile piece that would be great for EDC.

The mini scout is the closest to what you describe. It's small, maybe 2/3 the size of a small canoe. Sizewise something between the scout and the stockman would be nice. I would really like it if RR would put the cap lifter in the barlow frame.

pretty much my thoughts too..

so many and still cheap at twice the price! maybe it's our big name importers turning their noses up at them? I'd love some more to easily choose from and I know plenty of others feel the same way and want to collect them. such a shame.

Here's a nice one from RR.

Gunstock checkering. Their number RR712 Rifleman Gunstock. Got this one a few months ago.
It measures 3 1/2" closed.
Not the best pic.....sorry.

^^^^ The Gunstocks are hard to beat, and competitively priced, even for a RR. Did yours come with a tin ? A recent thread has got me thinking, in regards to the potential , carbon steel RR's. There are some Asian, manufactured slip joints offered, by "Cattleman's Cutlery" (there's a whole thread on this) though they offer only 1055 and 1065 at the moment. I'm hoping if RR decides to go the Carbon route they choose something with slightly more edge retention. They could, maybe just find the source for the Cattleman's and have an RR logo put on them for all I know.
