Rough rider stockman design flaw?

Thank you, one and all, for your thoughtful insights, pictures and related musings, I appreciate them all very much! Sorry for the delay in responding, I'm an occasional visitor when time allows... maybe a little bit of a hobgoblin, but absolutely not a troll :p

The conclusion seems to be that this is how Rough Rider stockmans are being made, which leaves me with a dilemma: I really like that micarta, but I'm not a fan of any of the other patterns in that series, so to sowbelly or not to sowbelly... that is the question!

I was asking in part because I was wondering if there was any point in trying to investigate the issue with the manufacturer. The initial response I got was "we'll replace it", with no actual comment on the design issue. But as has been remarked already, this is how they have things set up wherever they're being made, and especially given the value nature of the line, I can see it's not likely they want to invest substantially in actually fixing the problem :rolleyes:
