Rough Ryder just came out with a new knife (RR2176), a Micarta-handled upswept Bow Trapper. I believe they came available yesterday, and they are already sold out of half of their stock. I just ordered one, it looks like an interesting knife.

Just grabbed the last one tonight. I got lucky and accidentally added a second one into the cart and got an error that said there wasnt enough in stock so instead of putting it off a few days like I had planned I grabbed it immedietly.

Im so glad I did. I really fell in love with the lines on that knife and it would have really sucked if I had hesitated and missed out. Such a beautiful knife. My first non stainless blade too. Looking forward to using it.

Wow, I just asked about the knife and now find the thread about it. I am not a fan of upswept knives, but it looked interesting to try. Let us know how you like them.

I just received mine this morning. It's a very nice knife and well executed. One thing I don't like is the small lanyard hole, too small for your standard-sized paracord. There has been rumors of a second run, but it will probably be a bit of a wait. I predict that this knife will be another elusive one like the RR2038 Micarta Work Knife.

I was aware of these and intended to get one at Smoky, then dilly dallied and they sold out. Then I saw they were at Chicago and intended to get one..... then dilly dallied and they sold out. So frustrated at myself.

There has been talk of a second batch from SMKW, but it will probably be a bit of a wait. Don't feel too bad, I've done the same thing before myself. What I learned is to know what you want and what you're willing to spend on it, and when you see it, be like a duck on a June bug.

Along with the Bow Trapper I got the High Plains Toothpick.
The Toothpick is a really nice knife.

I like the color and texture of the bone covers.
The fit and finish on both knives are very good.

Just sharpened both up and the Toothpick is very slicey.
The Bow Trapper is a bit thick but I think I will try to use it a bit and then I will probably lay it down on the stones and take the angle back a bit.

Also the nail nick on the Bow Trapper has some cool crosshatch type embellishment on it.
Very nice knives.

The match strike nail nicks are not my favorite but if it turns out to be equal in quality to the swayback work knife, it will be the best $11 I will have spent in a while. Mine is on its way.

I'm a bit confused by some of the pix here. Are they all Sabre ground? Some look flat. An interesting pattern certainly, but this selling out in a blink of an eye seems to be trying to emulate GEC;) Or have they all been bought up by survivalists with inside info?:D
