Rough Use

I use a mechanical pencil, which by definition says I’m a sissy.

I have not tried any loads reduced loads. I’m always trying to get my 300 gain bullets to go faster. I can look up some loads, I have most of the major reloading manuals and a book called Big Bore Cartridges (which has load data). If you are in interested, drop me an email with the bullet weights (200-250 gr range?) and I’ll look them up.

The Mega Salyan as a bayonet will reduce both recoil and turn muzzle climb into muzzle drop. The recoil in a typical 8.5 rifle in .375 H&H will be reduced to 24 from 41 ft-lb. That would make the .375 H&H recoil feel like that of a 30-06.

Mega Salyan = Mega Recoil Reduction

(a bipod or shooting stick is recommended!)

Sasquach is out there.

If the MS Bayonet is properly mounted it can split the bullet as it leaves the barrel, effectively converting the .375 to a 2 x .187 .

With only about twice the recoil of a .22, it should then be easy to handle.

Uncle Bill,
I just got through using my trusty "ugly duckling" villager (like the one Cliff tested and liked so well) to chop up some oak limbs from my neighbor's tree that had blown down into my yard. In the process of cleaning it, smoothing the edge of the buttcap and oiling the handle, (but not having to even touch up the edge after hard use), I was reminded once again what truly excellent pieces of work those twelve khukuris were. I wonder if Pala has heard anything from the kami who made them in the intervening year - I'd think a fellow who found such a good (and receptive) market for his work would try to repeat the sale. You mentioned that the recent BirGorkha move has cut down on the visits by village kamis. I'd sure hate to see such a talented craftsman fade into obscurity. Any hope of seeing any more of his work?

Bill,
The check's in the mail, double whammy from the Feds. and my property taxes went stright up!

But, I'll second Berk's idea. That guy made some of the best blades I've ever had, even if looks weren't there......after all, were talking about my "beloved pet"!

I'd buy some more of that guys work in a heart beat.

Will, the simplest way to increase speed is to rechamber to 375 Weatherby - the Weatherby improved version of the H&H - and pick up 200 fps with the 270 ( to 2940 fps & 5181 fpe ) and 250 fps with the 300 ( to 2800 fps & 5223 fpe ). You can still shoot 375 H&H factory loads in it to form cases. The 375 Weatherby has been considered obsolete since Roy took the 416 Rigby case, added a belt, blew it out and necked it down to make the 378 Weatherby, and Weatherby itself no longer loads ammo for the 375. A-square loads it though.

Of course doing that would increase the point blank range of the rifle, so it would only be fitting to use a 30" Sirupati rather than the Salyan in order to increase bayonet range by an order of roughly the same magnitude.

Back to the meds, Rusty.

We will be getting more village models in but when I don't know. Now that BirGorkha is out in the middle of a vegetable field it is hard to find. We will have to send somebody out on a scouting mission and spread the word but we must get caught up with our own work first.
