RR: Kershaw Ken Onion Vapor

as soon as Ken gives me one to test I will post the results. The last knife he gave me wound up as ransom at a dinner for Ken's good buddy "hostess" bar owner!!!!!!!!!!

Took the picture away - sorry about that.

Seems to have less holes in the handle than those in Knifecenter pages.
From where did you buy it?

Probably from Ken, it is one of his customs :)

I have the large Vapor II model. Kershaw makes them scary sharp! I really like the knife, although the thumb stud is a bit sharp. I truly wish it had the "Speed Safe" feature. Ken, could you pull some strings and maybe convince Kershaw to add the assisted opening feature? :D All in all I really like the thin profile of the knife, it's solid lockup. The only things I would change on it are the pocket clip (it looks cheap), and I'd add dual thumb studs (less sharp).

Thanks for the report El cid, Glad you like it . I'l pass your info on to Kershaw. I like it with speed safe to I just dont think we could do it for the suggested retail of 39.00 and smaller 34.00 for the price I think Kershaw kicked ass.

Ken, it is a great bargain for the money as it is. Even if Kershaw decided to update it with the Speed-Safe, I'd still buy it no matter the price increase. Since I'm right handed, the dual thumb studs don't matter too much, but I wish they were less sharp. About the pocket clip, I wish it was more like the one used on the Chive so there's less chance of it slipping out of your pocket so easily. Other than that, the knife is great. By the way, any word on the Whisper model?

Ken - Doug has informed me that they will start putting ambi studs on the Vapors......and yeah, I'd like to see these with the Speed Safe :)

Well, here's a years-late quasi-review for you guys. ;)

First, I think it is awesome that I only now fond this thread and Ken's input into it.
Second, I haven't even seen my Vapor for a few years. Just found it and have been carrying it for a few days now.

In that time I've looked up reviews on the old knife, and found at least one person unhappy with the weight compared to modern folders with scales on the sides. I got to thinking about this, and it only hit me last evening that the weight comes from all-metal and thicker sides than just about any modern folder with added-on scales. Those thick steel sides mean less flex, and if the bolts/rivets hold, what should be a substantially 'tougher' folding knife for the money. It hit me that while none of this occurred to me at the time, I'm pretty damned happy with my cheap-as-chips tough little folder.
