Rubber Bucky will make the rounds again!

When I had the old one it went to Sunshine Skyway for dose of fish guts and did a great job!

Gee guys, it sounds like by the time this rubber buckie gets around, the blade will be gone from all this sharpening.
If you didn't get to fondle the first one, you should try this one. Rubber grips on a 110 is a must have.
TS,,,,will that acetone take the handles off of say, an AG S30V 110 ??? anybody?
on the new ones there is a relise agent that buck uses Joe could tell you..
on the 2002 one i made last there was no blue!
only the rivits holding it on!
sharpening .. humm
well this one is starting with a 1/16 inch short blade..
some one had a chipped the tip on the blade:thumbdn:
and them drilled a lanyard hold in the rear bolster..:thumbdn:
once that was done, well it can not be sent to Buck ...
it has been my simi work and yard use knife for a good while now... :)
so i re-profiled the clip down to the edge and used some emery cloth and crocus cloth on it.. the blade almost has a mirror polish finish to it..
i got the grips re-epoxied on with new 'stuff' tonite and
guys take note: the screws in the sides are taped AND epoxied in..
they are basicly there to fill the holes in the grips
from were they are supposed to be on a alpha hunter..
i am getting excited again and looking forward to finishing it tomarow!:D
i have a knife to send to Eric and this one so will make a trek to the
post office tomarow evening as i hope to have it done! will post picts..

so flat lander rudder jet and Jack and tin sue, Messer? and pack rat?
Bucksway, did you want to check out the finger groved one?
oh ... yea i know .. ya wants a girl sized 112 rubber bucky right?
humm that might could be next... i have one more set of grips left...:D

I certainly think that it will, but you may need to soak it (completely immersed) for a day or two to allow the acetone to work its way underneath the scales. Acetone is readily available at most paint supply stores (even at Walmart); it is very volatile and highly flammable so be sure you do not use in in enclosed spaces or next to flames. It will not harm metal or most natural handle materials (wood, stag, ram, etc.), but will damage most synthetic products. And to give credit where it is due, I picked this one up from Leroy Remer.

well it is past 6 pm here and i got it finished.
i am getting a little better and faster at this
now i want to try this on a 112 next..!
ok guys.. i went to take picts of it and
the dang camera needs new batt's! they wont take a charge..
so rather then delay getting this to the "first tester"
i will send it out in the morning and ask Flatlander
if he will post picts and first impressions when it arrives..

i am getting a little better at this..
now as it was a old two line inverted
the frame was not as wide top to bottom (thiner from back to belly?)
as the new ones, that said -
with the finger groves in it and the clip haveing been lowered it presents with
noticeably more of a fighter look to it then i intended..

the blade now has a nice polish as does all the brass...
if i knew how to braid a lanyard i would put one on it..
if any one knows how feel free to do so!

Will be happy to do a photo op on the "Rubber Bucky"

RazorBlades...PM your mailing particulars to me so I can forward to you when I've played with it a bit.

I'm excited to see this knife!! Dave you da man:thumbup:

well it is midnight and i looked and gee wizz the camera batteries had charged!
so was able to pull off the picts i had and take new ones..

of course it is signed and marked 'rubber bucky'
the real reason for this shot is ...
take note of the thickness of the brass on either
side of the rocker bar.. one side is much thicker!
on checking i have not seen this on others i have yet.
this hints at that they come from two different batches of stock!
any one else noticed any thing like this?

old and new side by side and Jacks sheath
you can see were the blade is short and clip is brought down,
to me it has a little bit of 'fighter' look
(i am still thinking this sheath is a keeper after the field testing)

close up of alpha rubber grips

how i got the blade looking

some of that old time "Glue" that buck used and how it hangs in there
some other thread there was much discusson on the thickness
of were it joined to the bolsters this shows how thick it is
and it is color gray green not dark like the wood
so it is the buffing that blends it in not its color

were it would not let go the wood or brass! dayum tough stuff!

Great pics Dave. I'm going to sit out this time since I did the last rubber bucky pass around.

Jack's sheath is still looking great!

yes his sheath still looks great!
if i were carrying a 110 at work again
Jack's sheath would not leave to visit any place !

update! the rubber bucky and jacks sheath are on the way to flatlander as we type..
he should have it this week end..
too dang bad i did not get it done in time for him to show it to chuck and get it signed!
wander were Chuck will be the rest of this year?
You used an inverted two liner ?????
well yes,
i thought any one that had never used the orgional Buck 440C
would be able to field test it for them selves for the asking ...
kinda of two test in one!
try a new grip and some good old fashon 440C at the same time!
despite being a collectable old buck it still is a dayum good user!
i used it up tell i put the grips on it.. this was not a safe queen!

That and i wanted to have a better prize knife for the
sales slogan contest later this year..

Hawkeye

Flatlander, is it there yet?

Dave, its a no show for the week-end.:grumpy: It'll be here Monday. So what Version was this knife? A Fourth?

Thats Pepsi the mountion feist squirrel dog.

Speaking of Squirrel Dogs...That little guy in my Avatar is a Rat Terrier named Bud. He's a rescue dog so to speak. My Uncle who was in his mid-70s at the time had recently got married to his high school sweetheart and she didn't like Bud in the house...so Bud was forced to re-locate to under the Porch. Well my mother (they all have retired back to the farm) decided that I needed a new dog and put me in a position where I couldn't say no...so Bud came make from Mississippi to Maine with me 3 years ago (age 5 now). Now we are best Buddies.

So long story but Bud is a squirrel killing rascal. Those red squirrels are picked off at the bird feeder on a regular basis. Got two cat squirrels (grey) also and from the bloody bite marks on this chest and belly, it was a real fight. He likes chipmunks, moles, and field mice too. No rats to my knowledge.

He likes Buck knives a lot too...he likes doing what I do so he must.:D

ya know i dont know!
it is a two liner inverted stamp and it had the steel rocker pin and seperat spacer and the inlays had the small rivets...
now i dont want to be a hearing any tall tails of that it was some kind of extreamly rare and there fore valuable knife... cause it was jest my old yard work knife and the only thing diff on it i could see was the diffrent size thickness of brass on each side that and the spacer is a diffrent color of brass..then the rest of the frame...
yep jest an old work knife from years ago that still is a great work knife!
