Rude behavior/no response

I have found this to be true as well, particularly when putting an offer forward on a trade. If people don't like your offer, how difficult is it just to say, 'thanks, but no thanks'?

.... And there are many on here who don't like to reply.... .
 
Mark - I'm pretty sure you and I have been in that situation before. We weren't even selling/trading, either. ;)
 
I want to see how many others have encountered this.

It happened to me here in the last month. What was surprising is that it was one of the regular posters on the Busse forum. I really expected more from this person.
I had posted a thread in the WTB and this person responded. We PM'd back and forth a few times and then all of a sudden there were no more responses. I wasn't sure if my PM's weren't getting through, so I even emailed a few times. It is rude as hell, and all it would have taken is a simple "I've changed my mind" or anything.
When someone treats me like that it is as if to say, "I have decided to ignore you and not treat you with the courtesy that I know I should. You don't rank high enough to deserve the treatment that I give people I like."
 
I handle communications in two ways;

When it comes to doing business, I am prompt in returning Emails or better yet email and return a phone call to make sure everything is correct.

Then there is the online chat. I have a pretty full life to lead, and do not spend alot of time at the PC. While I like to engage in conversation, sometimes I have to limit my communications or else I would be at the keyboard for hours, which is time that I do not have. I am sure that I have offended some folks when I do not respond in short order, but either they understand this as time goes on, or they don't. If they don't well then its their loss not mine.
 
I agree with Cobalt, I always treat/talk to folks the way I would like to be treated. I recently held a high-dollar pistol for someone who "assured" me he was going to buy--just needed a week or two--and then backed-out. Even MORE recently, I have had an UNBELIEVABLY bad experience with a WELL-known ABS mastersmith! The ONLY was I got him to make things right was to threaten to "out" him here, and to write all the knife rags about his behaviour. Suddenly he says "well, I'm in the people-pleasing business, so what will it take to make this right?" I had treated him with TOTAL respect and I guess it was my "audacity" at not wanting to accept a knife with a cracked mammoth ivory scale (REAL Crack, deep and disturbing. Not the pleasing crackling that comes with ancient ivory) that ticked him off. He even told me he was "removing me from my customer list" to which I replied "no, I'm removing you from my maker's list!." I've done MANY deals with big-time makers and have NEVER encountered someone so full of arrogance. Sorry for the rant. Jim SEMPER FI
 
Alright, so as not to be thought of as "gutless" the maker's name was Murray Carter. You can see a thread about the whole ugly incident over in the Maker's Forum. Now that you know his name I want to be clear that he did--finally--make it "right" by me, at least finacially right. However, his condescending e-mails and sheer rudeness were never "made right." No apologies, nothing. Just banned me from his list. After I sent him 50% down, extra money for the mammoth ivory, and even threw-in a little extra money to cover shipping. What most of the maker's said was, essentially, they would never have sent a knife out that looked like that to begin with or, at the VERY least, they would have informed me there was a very significant crack in the ivory and, while it was mostly a cosmetic issue, I should have at least had the right to say yes or no to the material. There. That's the story from this gutless old jarhead. Jim SEMPER FI
 
You're all gutless. Post the names in GBU and be done with it.

I already gave those that did behave like this a zero rating and explained why. I think that is good enough as anyone who looks at the I trade will see that.

All kidding aside. I have never had a problem with lack of comminication. Generally the other way around so far.
 
some people are just plain rude. and it's not always the newbies. we may forget, but if the other person sends another note, you can't possibly claim a memory loss, cos you would really have consciously ignored the note / refused to respond.

I've had many like that...they tell you they're very keen and ask you for pics, specs etc, and after you send it to them....bam....radio silence.

guess that's just life when we're dealing online...

Hey guys sometimes i get caught up in work , family and stuff.It could just be an honest mistake at times.You know I posted a thread about edge pro a couple of days ago .got some really good help from it.One member told me he had a used one for sale for xxxx dollars.He left me an e-mail about it.I left numerous e-mails and pms because I wanted to buy it.yesterday I emailed him and asked if he had gotten my emails again I asked how to pay for it .His answer was he is shipping today ? I don't get it ? so I moved on to buy a new one . I really try hard to do the right thing sometimes I just don't get it ?
 
Interesting thread. I know, sometimes (Especially lately), I might not have come through as quickly or as well as I like to (Or expect myself to), but things happen (Unfortunately). However, I've always tried to communicate ANY problems &/or issues. All in all, it's about commiunication.

It's happened to me a few times unfortunately. :( From HOGs (maybe my newbie-ness by comparison had something to do with it) and others. I consider it unfortunate, but I have been here for 1 year and with all the transactions I have made, 3 times isn't horrible. Still unfortunate though...

I like the neutral feedback suggestion. :thumbup:
 
I have cut my internet time a lot in the past few months. I try to get back to everyone, but my internet usage is all over the place. Maybe a week or two in a row, every day, then nothing for a couple of days. While I was looking for a fat Warden several months ago, many Hogs and Rats and Busse fans helped me out, I hope that I responded to everyone.
