Ruger just released their first 1911! I really like the look of this one. Modern touches to an American classic. What do you guys think?

I would like to try it out... Love the 1911

Just got back from the range today......brought my Kimber......forgot my target rounds.

I wasn't about to shoot 100 rounds of home defense rounds I had loaded in my mags. So Duty pistol (Glock .40) and .308 FAL for a few hours.....
 
Sweet Snowboarder. I love Ruger firearms. They are way overbuilt.Might have to see how it compares to my Springfield 1911. I already have a deal with moma to get a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 next.

I love that they kept the look of it close to the original. I'm intrigued.

But it still doesn't appeal to me more than a Colt 1991 Government model.
 
I would like to see it in person, shoot it and then give an opinion. BUT, I love 1911's and I have always been fond of Ruger. Thanks for posting this!
 
I would take a piece of rubber and strap it around that grip safety to disable it. Lawsuits or not, that's the way I'm fighting with a 1911. do you know how much the Ruger will retail for??
 
As much as I hate to admit it (I Love Ruger handguns) I think Ruger is a little late to the party on this one but I'm sure it'll be a great gun.

Ruger typically makes marketable products, however, I think I'll stick with my Colt 1911's until I can afford an Ed Brown :D
 
Has a titanium firing pin. Wonder how that'll hold up. Other than that, it looks like a great contender for the "my first 1911" category. It's only like 700ish MSRP. Street price will probably bring that down a bit.

EDIT: It also comes with one 7 round and one 8 round magazine.
 
I love my overbuilt Security Six, but for a 1911, I think I'll stick with my Colt.
