The idea of a 7 inch Rule #9 came to my attention and I of course jumped all over it. Thanks Greatscoot for the idea, I'm more than a little embarrased to admit that I hadn't thought of it.:o
John will be making this masterpiece in January and I'd like for it to travel around a little.
If you think you'd like to give her a try, post here and we'll get her to you.
Standard passaround rules apply of course.

A 7" version of Rule 9

The time is nigh.

Here is the list. Not necessarily in this order. I think we should try to send it to the nearest person so shipping is quicker and as cheap as possible.

Mqqn.
HeefageLA.
1066vik.
YoungCurmudgeon.
Greatscoot.
B.Jackson.

Hopefully John will post some pics of it being made. I'm really anxious to see it.

I will be in line for any JK passaround. By no means must I be first though.

Thanks for the opportunity to test out a (maybe) future blade!

I think the Mud Turtle will be stiff competition for the 7" Rule 9. :p

Good to see some interest. This is going to be a workhorse.

I would love to see one in person - your designs always get me in trouble though (meaning I always buy one....)

I wanted to, but my Mom said no. She thinks it's too large, sharp and pointy for me. Perhaps if there is a sheath only passaround.....

Something tells me that you'll get a chance to cut yourself with this one...

Awesome... I'm in.

Can we call it 7of9?

I'm game to get in but I'll need a fill in on the rules.
I am guessing have it a few days then get it on to the next person. Take some pics and some field testing?
Any no, no's such as batoning or sharpening?
thanks for the opportunity.

Basically you have it right. The no-nos are pretty much don't do anything to it that you wouldn't want done to a tool of yours. It will be mine so I want it in good condition when I get it.

sounds good, I basically have different levels of use per knife. For yours it will be the treat gently mode :)

WELL, there goes my battery acid test!

John is making it now. This is going to be a "must have" knife.
I can't wait.

The RN9 Regulaaaar was a must have, why would the Big Boy be any different?????

Looking to see another great JK / Protourist collaboration knife here.....

I would add that in this passaround, as I expect in ALL OTHERS - if you have this knife be PREPARED to post at LEAST one picture for and post for EVERY day you have the knife.

That is my rules, not Mack's, but if you think about it and are a gentleman, it makes sense....this is about a man and his knife and his design, and John's execution.....if you want to play (it is one of life's special targeted pleasures...) then you should be prepared to PAY in the form of frequent posts and pictures.

I am sure the JK Family will heed this requirement, but it's a peeve of mine.... ;^)

Thank you, Andy. I couldn't have said it better.

I'm going to watch this with enthusiasm. I've been a part of many JK passarounds and love other people's takes on knife usage. My Rule #9 is a heck of a good tool, second to my Phoenix is JK most used. When I think of the JK knives I've owned and those I still have in my collection (pocket scandi, Toby, Original, Phoenix, R#9, Rockywolf's Choice, Knatchet), I realize I have my bases covered and then some.

This is going to be fun! Thanks for making it possible.

I'll be starting on this Tuesday, I've got some business to take care of tomorrow.

I'm really getting anxious for this one. It's kinda scary to me how much I like this design.
