Runners folder...what do you use?

So good to see people talking of HRM's here. The LAST place I'd have expected it.
I have used various monitors through the years. Polar, Cateye, Vetta, but none have really qualified as load bearing.
I always wanted to carry a knife (or two) with me but felt it was not really possible.
I'd really like to thank Brian Lavin for pointing out the possibilities for bicyclists.
(I actually never thought of may Camelbak)
I do run as part of my fitness regimen (usually 4mi. every other day) but the bicycle has remained the forefront of my athletic activity.
Any other cyclists out there with effective carry tips for those of us who want to know?

I've managed to tarnish and produce tiny spotted rust on just about every pocket knife I've ever worn. Only one survived so far, but that's only because it was coated. Aside from what you wear dictating what you can practically carry, my only suggestion is to make sure you get a folder that is coated.

I carry the small version of the Gerber EZ Out clipped onto my runnig shorts waist band and just rinse it with clean water when in the shower afterwards

I give it a rub with a Tuf Cloth every half a dozen runs or so and have never had any rust problems (probibly cause I dont run far enougth

Joel, (or anyone who knows) when you say: "The blades get regularly coated with CLP", what is that, CLP?

Thanks,

My former user ID was "Antonella"--it's still me!

I carry a Spyderco Dragonfly, the old model with zytel handle and hollow ground G-2 blade. As it is lightweight as few, you will not notice it's presence until you need it. I wear it inside my waistband on my running pants and so far I havent suffered any stains on the blade.

CLP is an acronym for Cleaner, Lubricant, and Protectant. Typically associated with firearms care.

I like a commercial product called Break Free. It's a liquid that comes in a varity of sized containers. Most sporting goods and gun shops carry it.

Don't use it on your food prep knives though. Stick with mineral oil or something similar.

Yep, right on what CLP means. The only CLP one can find is with a NSN stock number on it. Any one with any time in the military in the last ten years knows the smell well.

The commercial version is Break Free. There are many other lubricants/protectants that work much better IMHO, but hey I have a fibe gallon jug of CLP so I tend to stick with it.
It is a mild skin irritant and carcinogenic.
