Running knives

Well this happened yesterday i had to use my blade while running

You may ask, What happend? Well let me tell you.

I was jogging were i normally do (a very small unpopulated neiborhood) and as i was jogging this kid on a longboard and he was trying to show off tricks, me and his faimily are good freinds so i would say i know him fairly well. Well he as was trying to do a trick he wasnt paying attention and he landed in a pothole. He broke his leg. And his bone was sticking out! he as well tore open his arm really bad and had to get a lot of stitches:( it was very gross. So i pulled out my trusty pm2 and then cut my shirt and made a turnoquet (im very bad at spelling sorry) and cut down a branch for a splint.

When he was at the hospital just finishing up getting stitches his parents (who are sheeple btw) thanked me and apologized theryre rudeness before on why i carry a knife and how its "useless" now they are firm believers in blades now!:)

So that was an unexpected turn for my day

Good on ya x2! First aid and converting!

Wow, good on ya!

You never know when you might need one. That's why I carry...

Benchmade 530 for me, too. Carry it while on the bicycle, don't feel it but know right where it is, if ever needed.

Can someone explain to me what jogging is? The OP had it right with running knives so what is up with jogging knives?

Have you ever use it out on the trail?

Not once! Honestly I don't carry it for self defense as I do for just the unexpected! For example break my foot in a weird way and can't get my shoe undone or my shirt gets caught on a branch and I have to cut it off or out. I hopefully will never need it!!!

That is awesome! Do you mind if I share that story?

at 70+, bad knees and worse back, I don't run even from burning buildings :-) Didn't your mommy warn you
not to run with scissors?? That goes for knives also:-) When slowly walking with a cane I carry my trusty Victorinox
Deluxe Tinker on my belt and a Kershaw Drone in my pocket. I observe Gibbs Rule #9 religiously.

You should talk to Ken Onion about his custom canes! Kill two birds with one stone!

I like them. Only problem is they are very illegal here. Don't want to spend
my last days in a 6 ft box with a 350 lb "sweety" named Guido :-)

I don't jog, ever, my construction job has me too tired to do anything some days.

However that is an amazing story! I'm glad you were able to help that kid out who knows how bad that situation could have turned out without your intervention!

You should share your story with KnifeRights! Mayhap it could advocate better laws in areas that are restrictive and a situation like this could be resolved in the same way! Maybe not but it's worth a shot I'd say!

Good job either way. Points for being prepared, and extra points for knowing how to make the tourniquet (spelling auto-corrected haha)

I've been running with a knife for many years. Anything light that stays put will do. Never had the blade get sweaty. You can use it as an excuse to buy something in H1 but it's not necessary. I don't understand how a neck knife works at all for this or why it's appropriate.

Since I don't expect to be doing EDC tasks on my run I usually pick something long and thin. I live in a nice area but it's the one case where a knife is more likely to be used to stab something (mountain lion, rogue coyote, rabid dog, etc). Super unlikely though.

Didn't your mother ever tell you not to run with a knife..... oh no that's right it was scissors! :D

Not that H1 is necessary, but I had my Gayle Bradley form spots on it from being in my pocket at work while I was sweating. Probably most SS's would do actually.
