With that other piece of different color steel coming up over the top of the blade it may even be some sort of San Mai? It is a heafty piece with an incredible feel. I am hoping it is one of Russell's because I like his work but I am getting frustrated trying to find out who did the work, lol.

you might look in the direction of Josh Gallardo’s knives. That makers mark might be one of his earlier ones.
