Drawing a line in the sand at setting them out in the back yard.Depends on the humidity levels.
Or the bathroom.No change today.
And for humidity... It occurred to me the garage would probably help so they are currently all setting out there.
I'll make a deal with you. If I don't see anything Saturday morning then I'll mix up some salt water and spray them to set until that afternoon. That's got to be enough torture testing.Or the bathroom.
I put a coating of frog lube on my knives. Depending on how much I carry a knife I'll coat it weekly or monthly. I use my knives for food so I can't use non food safe oils.
I have to go back in time a decade plus some since I tried Frog Lube but that was not my experience with it at all. But I was told you use it sort of like how you season cast iron in that you rub a thin layer on the steel, hit it with a heat gun or at least a hair dryer, and wipe off any excess. But I only used it because the ex at the time was hyper sensitive to WD40, 3in1, or anything else while Frog Lube had a faintly minty odor. She of course couldn't smell the half dozen to eventual dozen cats which is how she became an ex. But of course that's a different story.I frog lubed a non stainless knife and left it in storage. It rusted badly while other similar knives, not lubed, in the same location, were fine. Also, it was a chore to remove. I threw all my frog lube away. I'm going to try mineral oil or fractionated coconut oil.
Try chapstick or a salve. The mix of oil and wax works great for corrosion protection.I frog lubed a non stainless knife and left it in storage. Vaseline works well.I frog lubed a non stainless knife and left it in storage. It rusted badly while other similar knives, not lubed, in the same location, were fine. Also, it was a chore to remove. I threw all my frog lube away. I'm going to try mineral oil or fractionated coconut oil.
You gotta reapply it every so often. It absolutely works but best for knives you use a lot. Not for knives just sittingI frog lubed a non stainless knife and left it in storage. I thought Froglube was mostly coconut oil?I frog lubed a non stainless knife and left it in storage. It rusted badly while other similar knives, not lubed, in the same location, were fine. It is. Horrible for guns but it's great for knives used for everything including food. I've been using it for years now and never have so much as a spec of rust on any of my knives. Not even ones I dont carry often. So I'm not sure how his knives rusted.I thought Froglube was mostly coconut oil?

No, stainless does not equal rust free... What I mean is I've had a few recent instances of rust on some of my nicer stainless steel knives that are usually known to not have this issue and yet besides some patina I've not had rust on M4, K390, Maxamet and other steels that should be prone to rust.
I should also admit upfront that I tend to be a little more rough on stainless steels not doing much routine wipe down and oiling simply because they are a stainless steel. Over the decades of various flavors of stainless I've carried it's only Gerber's 420HC that's ever been a problem child with rusting. Buck's 420HC, Spyderco's AUS 6 and 8, Case's Tru Sharp (some kind of 420), whatever Victorinox uses, and more have never given me trouble.
But a short while back I had a Sebenza in S45VN with a couple of freckles and the edge eroded from carry in pocket in a leather slip. And I mean the edge was GONE. Not as it I had to strop it back. And now this morning I was going to carry a Para 3 in S45vn and I swear the edge has brown spots on it. I set it aside to check better this afternoon but I don't know what else it would be.
And yet the PM2 in M4, Tenacious in M4, Stretch and Delica in K390, or various Case in CV or CS hasn't rusted in my pocket with just a minimal wipe on my sleeve with done and occasional oily rag wipe down at the end of the day (when I remember).
And again, I know stainless doesn't mean rust free... I just find it odd to have this problem and only on a fancy PM stainless.
Does anyone else have issue with PM stainless rusting on them??? Or just for curiosity, does anyone else have steels that should be rusting that seem to ignore the trend???
It's calling from INSIDE the house! Is the rust in the room with us right now?
Vaseline works well.
BreakFree CLP or plain old Vaseline work work pretty well for
Seems the steel has been exonerated. So It only takes two drinks before I post things in the wrong threads. Anyways.

In so many ways not yet.Seems the steel has been exonerated.
