Off Topic Rusting a cheap harbor freight hatchet to age it ( update )

How's the handle coming along?
I've been curious to see the final product since your sketch, very good btw

I can't draw stick figures
Went to the local hardware store in town and they didn't have the handle I want.
They had the link scout hatchet handle ( plumb style )
But I want what I believe link calls a camp axe handle which has more meat to it for me to work with, and a proper fawns foot.
I may have to check another hardware store a few towns over next time I'm in the area.
Not a fan of ordering handles on line when I know I can buy one at a hardware store for about $6.50

I believe i have looked at the Link Camp Axe handle before (I could be so sadly mistaken though) and if I get into one of the stores in the next couple days I will try to grab a few pics for you.
I agree that the price point at the stores are nice and affordable (for my rate of purchase), the convenience of holding and selecting or not selecting, a quality handle eliminates any frustration I would surely encounter with opening a package of a needed but not upto standards handle(s).

I bought one before to carve down into a handle for my Vaughan sub zero, but I just don't remember what it was called and can't find the picture took of it before carving it down. I went to my old Photobucket account, but it never liked to show me every one of my pictures.

Ahh yes. Photobucket...Good times. Photoransombucket.

Good things come to those who wait.
For some reason I felt like waiting till the hardware store had a handle I wanted instead of looking elsewhere and it payed off.
They had a handle I wanted and it was free with my ACE rewards, not the best handle ever but decent grain with no run-out and best of all it was free which is perfect for a HF hatchet head.
