S-2 From Columbia River

What I like about this knife:

1.) Good design. Definitely a ripoff of the Sebenza, but a pretty well-done ripoff for a knife 1/3 the price.

2.) Reasonable quality. Mine came nice and tight. It opened and closed well.

3.) Torx screws. Good thinking. Would have been nice if they had included the tools with the knife, though.

The only thing I can't stand about the S-2 is the pointy clip. What were they thinking? As I've said before though, it's nothing a little filework can't take care of.

Bottom line: I think it's well worth the money. I saw a pre-production Pinnacle at the NY Custom Knife Show (I haven't seen a production piece yet), and I'd put the S-2 in the same class. Give the H-Man a call and he'll hook you up.

To address Joe's 2 points:

The handle really isn't as hellacious as it looks, relative to the blade. They could probably afford to take off maybe 1/4" max. I think it fits in good with the overall design of the knife. And the knife doesn't balance badly at all.

The integral lock is about the same thickness as the blade and is designed to come all the way across, making the lockup real strong, Sebenza-strong. The picture doesn't do it justice. In any case, it's definitely stronger than any non-integral liner lock.

Win,

Torx included would have been very nice.

Pointy clip is bad, digs into my hand sometimes, catches on things, I have sprung it twice now... Luckily, the clip is soft, so it is easy to bend/torque/wrench back into shape.

But, I have to give them points for a cool looking design.

And the ergonomics are good....

Beadblasting does sound risky, as for Torx, many of you may know of Wiha tools, we have used Wiha Torx tools in the machine shop for years with insert tooling systems, top quality tools imho, the site has a great catalog on line or they will send you one, they also list online dealers. I think torx tools are kinda cool for gadget people. The S-2 sounds like a knife to check out.
I'm not connected with Wiha.
