Let's start a thread for reviews of the mystery, pre-production SK-4.7 sample blades that are now appearing.

Hoping for some S!cK 4.7 photos and reviews!

(see what I did there? :D )

I do have one coming, and I will be posting here. Got the shipping notice from Chiral yesterday.

There is another out in the wild - I think I saw something on FB or IG.

Edit to add: blade_chuudoku on instagram has one and has posted a few comparison photos to the 5.1

So happy there's 2 of these knives here in the forum. Chuudoku is the instagram guy I saw. I don't know much about him, but he must have done quite a bit behind the scenes to earn one of these special knives. Blackscout Survival on instagram and more so youtube has another.

I told myself over and over I wouldn't get caught up in who the 30 lucky people are, but I am curious!

Heck yeah. Bring on the S!cK reviews!

I am so looking forward to these and will be living vicariously until I can get a GSO or SK in my grubby mitts.

The 4.7 arrived today, and it is really fantastic!

So we had a full day today, so I didn't get a chance to really check it out, but the initial observations are this is one heck of a knife. The handle is just a little bit shorter than the 5.1, and to me the 4.7 feels perfect. I find I am always slightly adjusting my grip on the 5.1, making sure it is just right before using it. The 4.7 just fits right for me, every time I grab it. It is really natural for me, and I imaging you guys who use knives a lot know what I me. "Confidence" comes to mine (not to over state it).

Also, this blade is perfectly sharpened. I cannot see a flaw along the length of it. I had no idea a blade could be this sharp.

I am really going to have some fun using this thing. Now for the teaser pictures...

The coating on the blade is really smooth, and seems like it is kinda slick. I personally would not have a coating on a blade - I like bare steel. I have not experience that leads me to this, it is just visual preference. I don't know if coatings chip or show wear. We'll see. Having said that, I am glad it is not black. The FDE is more outdoors, less tacticool. The handles are like a dark olive, and at first I though I would prefer black handles, but I instantly like these.

I will do some testing this week and post observations.

Having won this in the wedding raffle for Guy and Ellie, I feel very lucky. I am a little dumbfounded to be holding such an amazing knife that is in such limited supply. All I can say is thank you again to Chiral for putting together the raffle and thanks to Guy and Ellie for adding this knife to the give away. It is beautiful to be on the receiving end of such generosity!

When you pull the pic up on photobucket, just click on the IMG tab, it will be the bottom option. Then just paste into the box here on blade, the software will recognize that as an image and display it from its host location. You can set your album to private if you don't want everyone to see the rest of it.

Thanks HK. I was trying from my phone - no luck - but got it figured out on the computer based on your directions.

Man they do look good. So the coating is slick as in untextured?

I like that picture in the snow, you could call it SK chillin' :D

TR, please tell us about the steel! how does it perform? Does is say what type of steel it is on the box?

TR, you must have been saving the best for last ;)
I was wondering when you'd be posting over here!

Really glad to hear you appreciate your big win so much. This must mean there are now thirtyONE SK 4.7's out in the wild, right? You're a lucky man! I love the seeing the pics. Can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get some play time with it.

Sneaky Sneaky! I have a feeling if they're not putting the steel type on the blade they probably don't have it anywhere. Gotta wait until the big reveal!

Trying not to follow this thread for the sake of wanting one so badly but resistance is futile. I also like the color of the blade.

Looks like chiral added one of his extensions. Very cool

There is no mention of the steel anywhere. I posted a picture on my instagram and tagged S!K - who simply commented, "please tell us what you think of the steel when you get some time on it." No insider info.

I'll slap a magnet on it later just to figure out if it is SS or carbon. Something tells me coated is carbon.

The coating is very smooth, not glossy slick, but it doesn't have any discernible texture, not like an orangepeel or anything. Sometimes I look "into" the surface of my SS blades that are bead blasted. You know how you can see tiny little speckles of light on a nicely finished blade? That's how this is, just FDE instead of SS.

I have a small test planned for sometime this week. I have no real opportunity to get outdoors, but I will do some work in my shop on a block of hardwood. I will take before and after pictures of the finish and edge. Stay tuned...

Nice blade TR!
Looks very close to the 5.0 with different handle design.
I have a 5.0 & a 5.1...both work very well for my hands.
Let us know how that dog hunts....

Lol. I love that saying. Someone remind me, do we have a picture of the 4.7 alongside a 5?

Not that I've seen yet....... except for some blade blanks from probably a year ago. Just give me a little more time and I'll get you any angle you want :D

EDIT: I'm mistaken. Check out the first instagram winner. Scroll down until you see the 4.7+5 pics!

Thank you for that SN!!

Man it is so hard to wait for this one! I still expect to see a bunch of pics of your 4.7 as well :D

I absolutely agree. I know when the time comes I'll be anxious as all get out for my 2.7 and 10, but the 4.7 (and after seeing those comparison pics, the 4.1) could quite possibly THE knife for me. The anticipation is at an all time high and tomorrow it will be just a little bit higher :)

Be careful what you wish for, my friend! There may very well come a day when you'll be sick of seeing my overly documented 4.7 :D

Lol. There won't be a safe limb anywhere! :D

You're right though about considering the 4.1. I hadn't realized until the comparison pics how similar in size they are, so yeah, one of those two I'm thinking will be muy perfecto.
