The 4.7 arrived today, and it is really fantastic!
So we had a full day today, so I didn't get a chance to really check it out, but the initial observations are this is one heck of a knife. The handle is just a little bit shorter than the 5.1, and to me the 4.7 feels perfect. I find I am always slightly adjusting my grip on the 5.1, making sure it is just right before using it. The 4.7 just fits right for me, every time I grab it. It is really natural for me, and I imaging you guys who use knives a lot know what I me. "Confidence" comes to mine (not to over state it).
Also, this blade is perfectly sharpened. I cannot see a flaw along the length of it. I had no idea a blade could be this sharp.
I am really going to have some fun using this thing. Now for the teaser pictures...

The coating on the blade is really smooth, and seems like it is kinda slick. I personally would not have a coating on a blade - I like bare steel. I have not experience that leads me to this, it is just visual preference. I don't know if coatings chip or show wear. We'll see. Having said that, I am glad it is not black. The FDE is more outdoors, less tacticool. The handles are like a dark olive, and at first I though I would prefer black handles, but I instantly like these.
I will do some testing this week and post observations.
Having won this in the wedding raffle for Guy and Ellie, I feel very lucky. I am a little dumbfounded to be holding such an amazing knife that is in such limited supply. All I can say is thank you again to Chiral for putting together the raffle and thanks to Guy and Ellie for adding this knife to the give away. It is beautiful to be on the receiving end of such generosity!
