s110v native 5 up for pre order

have you ever used a native? the frn native was my first spyderco, and I still think it's an outstanding design. carries so small, yet good ergonomics with the choil. If the military hadn't pushed me to be a larger knife user, the native still might be my favorite. it's definitely my favorite smaller knife.

A friend of mine has one (CF S30V, I think). It's nice, but I haven't felt "gotta get me one of those!". I guess I'll found out if I like it or not in August ;)

I feel sure that price was a mistake. I checked the site again, and its been taken down for now.
I imagine it will be back up when they get the price figured out.

Probably be a little over $200.

It's $204, that's. little over $200 :-p

Edit: Never mind, found out I was late to the game anyways.. I thought $204.xx was good.. Lol. What the hell was the pricing before??

I'd like to know too, but a really good HT is more than what is represented by the final Rc grade it receives. There is a lengthy process nvolved and the more experienced heat treaters know that it's not just a 2-4 hour process, but something tht could literally take a couple 2-3 days consecutively.

Yes, it's a process and S110V has to be CYRO Tempered to get the most out of it also.

Why be so frustrated? You didn't have to preorder a knife that was obviously priced wrong. I mean come on. superior handle materials and steel... Seems obvious, especially if it happens over 1000 times...mistakes happen.

^^ this
People are jerks! they are ordering KNOWING that the price is not right and still expect to $%$# them in the A$$ and honor it because they are special...
Noone thinks about others, its is all "me me me"

Does anybody have any pictures, or a link to this new Native? I don't see it listed on the Spyderco web site.

Which would that be? I don't know my finishes by location, yet.

Off the top of my head, most, maybe all, of the Golden knives with CF scales have had the fine-texture peel-ply finish.

I would think it would have the peel-ply like JNewell mentioned. If you've seen the CF on the Military thats what the peel-ply is.
The CF UKPK is the only one out of Golden I can think of that had smooth CF.

I wonder if the scales from the native 4 cf will be interchangeable.

Not that it matters all that much. The cf is secondary to the s110v.

Ken,
I think that you forgot about Dodo. I like the finish on it's scales the most. It is not peel-ply and not like on UKPK. I can only wish that Spyderco would put this finish on all their CF scales.

Very good catch and shame on me for forgetting that one - I had one of those myself for a while! :)

Oh yeah, and that wasn't that long ago.
I'm with you, and also wish they would do more this way. I didn't have one, but it looks great.
I prefer a smoother CF over the peel-ply.

Does anyone have an idea of how s110v sharpens? I'm not very good at sharpening and only have a sharpmaker. If it's too difficult I might pass.
