Interesting stuff! So HH, when you use this approach, do you try to completely eliminate the burr prior to switching to EEF? When you micro on EEF, do you limit it to a few strokes in order to preserve your toothy pattern even on the micro?

Yes and yes.

How many strokes on the micro will depend on how big a jump I'm making, what sort of edge I'm trying to make. Normally if I can see a glint with the naked eye is about right, especially if I have to move it under the light to pick it up. With a loupe I should be able to see the finer grind pattern at the edge. Maybe five or so light passes
