S30v Leek Pictures Will Be Up Soon

Here it is:

Thanks, Vassili.

Just to much dough for a knife of that size and a liner lock no less. Big deal on the steel. Now make it a frame lock with a 4" blade and you might have something there. keepem sharp

I'm okay with a liner lock, but it's better be a good one... I'd still prefer a frame lock like the original better. I think a Strider type half and half would be cool- maybe anodized steel or titanium liner on one side and a G11 liner on the other. Now THAT I'd pay a lot for... still, it's awesome that there's a steel snob version now!

I'm not paying anything over 100 dollars for one. I think I'll just stick with the S30V Spec Bump.

Stone washed blade:barf:
If $129 is MSRP I would bet it will sell at a little under $100. You are not going to find something with G10 and S30V much less. I do agree it may be a tough sell because of the size of the knife compared to it's price.

I'm guessing $80 for the Leek... that would be great.

$80 is the right price. I paid $60 for my rainbow Leek, after not too much shopping around, about 18 months ago.

Hi all,

I have to say that when I originally decided to post on BF's, it was to correct inaccurate details about Kershaw in a particular thread. Since my original posts, there has been threads on spec's and details about new Kershaw products, I answered a few of them as well. I understand this is a public forum, and you get to say what you want, however you want, but truthfully, I am a little taken back by the :barf: , and the "crappy material" negative commentary that seems to flow pretty easily.

We work very hard at Kershaw Knives to bring products for hopefully all to enjoy, and it becomes awkward for me to read "drive by" negativity and I am unstable in how to respond to it.

I trust you all will take this the right way, but after a few short weeks, I think I will be pulling way back from the forums, but know Kershaw will be positively represented, without my input.

Thanks to those with all the encouraging words.

I actually think this place is pretty good and mature about the insults towards the products and users than most other fully public message boards like this.

You shouldn't be suprised at all by the remarks, as they will be made about every imaginable person place or thing that is being discussed on such a large scale by so many people.

I think your representation of Kershaw here has been a good thing, and tends to make people feel more of a connection with the company.

Try to be as patient as you can and stick around. I among others would surely appreciate it.

Thomas,

Does Kershaw play a part in any forums anywhere on the web? If not that could be half of the problem.

In this day and age forums play a large part in knives as to Internet sales.

I'm not kicking on you as I remember the first time you posted.

Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, and many other large makers have a forum of some type where people can discuss their products.

Wanting to leave because of a few harsh comments doesn't help the Kershaw name. Sticking around, and participating and what not will help.

I mean Sal from Spyderco posts here and moderates the Spyderco forum. Good grief that's dedication. :)

Why would I want to buy knives from a company who just has an executive sitting somewhere when I can buy knives from a company where THE executive posts about knives with us?

Camaraderie is what it's all about.

Agreed with J85909266. More then this - I think Kershaw should start Kershaw Forum here as Spyderco and Buck and other do. You and Ken may be moderators.

I think you'll find a lot supporters here.

Thanks, Vassili.

Well, maybe I missed something, but in my opinion, the posts about Kershaw's new stuff have been vastly, overwhelmingly positive. I certainly haven't said a negative thing about any new thing Kershaw has done because I think it's all in a great direction.

I'm not sure what particular posts you refer to, or how ludicrous those claims in each individual post are, but people bash Benchmade, Spyderco and CRK all the time here, even life long fans of those knives. We speak our mind not of distaste, but a genuine opinion on what's being produced.

One of my absolute favorite companies, Benchmade, I personally have been being pretty critical of recently. They're taking the opposite move Kershaw is and moving down the scale (in my humble opinion) instead of making more higher end stuff.

Your presence here has made a big difference in my knife buying schedule.

So bullet points:
We all like having you here
I'm not sure what was said that would make you feel so unwelcome
Having a Kershaw rep is directly helpful
The vast majority of us are pleased with Kershaw's progress

Thomas, I own near 1000 knives (yes 3 zeros! mostly older ones- antiques) but the one I carry ALL the time is a Leek! I'm fairly new to this forum, and wouldn't have found out about the S30V if you and I hadn't both been on here!! Now quit this nonsense about taking a hike and tell me where I can buy one!!!

Exactly. I'm mostly a Spyderco customer, but I know of at least two high end Kershaws I'm very interested in, and the presense of a rep here has helped for sure.

I like Kershaw a lot. On my opinion they make great knives but for some reason have less attention, so prices for same quality knives (I mean top line Ken Onion) are in general lower then for similar knives made by competitors.

I was so impressed by my first Kershaw - Avalanche that I always pay attention to all news from Kershow. Kershaw forum will halp me a lot, because they do not have god Web Base channel for delivering such news.

Thanks, Vassili.

Thomas no offense meant. If you slide over to the Usual Suspect network you will find a post I just did today on a Whirlwind I gave my eldest a few years ago. Very positive on this knife. My concern is with the price point of the Leek. I am speaking only for myself about the price. Everyone is making an S30v bladed knife and with g10 and a liner lock. Most are bigger than the Leek. I guess I am having a difficult time justifying the price for that size and type of knife. Do it in a larger blade as in longer and wider, frame lock or something of that ilk and you may be onto something. Thing is the knife is nothing new even with the upgrade in steel. Also if it stays a liner lock make it a titanium framed liner lock maybe flame treated or something. keepem sharp

Thomas - I for one would hate to see you go. I can definitively say that I have purchased three Kershaw knives (Leek, Rainbow Leek, Chive) because of what I have read on the forums. (I'm also sure I have purchased my string of Spydercos because of what I read on those forums.) I think the Kershaws I have purchased are great knives and look forward to purchasing a higher-end Kershaw in S30v. I agree with Longbow, something a bit larger would be welcome.
