Who else agrees that Spyderco should make an all USA made S30v (or any other higher quality steel) tenacious? Come on Spyderco get with it! I recently started carrying my tenacious to get used to the size because I'm getting a blackout PM2 in the mail on Monday. And while i was playing with it, i realized (let me know if I'm just lucky) that it has perfect blade centering, it opens up quite fast and with authority. and it has zero play (in any direction) and I've had this knife for about 2 years now. So i think Spyderco should make a S30v tenacious. I would easily pay over 80 bucks it. such a great knife. Let me know if you agree!

and i forgot to mention, this thing is screaming sharp! i touch it up on my ceramic rod every so often and i strop it about every other day. its amazing!

I, do not. The tenacious is good at what it does. To me that is that it fills a high quality, budget slot. The PM2 and Manix 2 are both similar in size to the tenacious, come in S30V and are flat ground. No disrespect intended, I'm sure you'll find the para 2 quickly displacing the tenacious.

Also, Spyderco has limited production capability with the Golden plant. An upgraded tenacious would tax that factory more. That would be bad news for the availability and secondary market prices for the U.S. Made models.

I know the Byrd line is gettin the upgrade to BD-1 but I haven't heard anything about the tenacious getting it. That would be a good idea though. I don't think S30V or American made will ever happen though.

Don't worry, once you get the PM2 you will find you never touch the tenacious again. Well, maybe as a beater.

This is probably very true. Ive been drooling over it for about 7 months now. i and decided to pull the trigger on it when i saw Bladehq had the blackout version.

Just get yourself a Spyderco Manix 2 if you're wanting better steel. Then you'll get a stronger locking mechanism as well.

I have a Tenacious and I love it. It was my first Spyderco.

I carried it and only it for a couple of years.

But once I got the PM2, the Tenacious got put on the shelf, quick.

It's just how it is.

Oh, and then I bought two more PM2s in rapid succession.

The PM2 is just on another level.

I would be all over that, the tenacious has great ergos. BD-1 would be nice as well, that'd give me a reason to buy another tenacious ( I need one with an uncoated blade for the classic spydie look :))

thats probably what will happen with me. but i have one question about the PM2. have you ever dealt with a sticky lock in any of yours?

yep, i think spyderco definitely needs to make an updated version. such a great design would go great with an updated blade steel.

I love my tenacious and still carry it on occasion, but I agree with others, once you get your PM2 in hand you will likely not carry the Tenacious much. Give the Manix 2 a shot as well, some what similar design to the Tenacious, only improved in most all aspects to the Tenacious, better ergos, Better G-10, choil, ball lock, S-30v or better steel (Sprint runs), and still affordable.

I know for sure the Byrd line is getting it, but I thought I read somewhere that the value series was also getting the same treatment. I could be wrong though...I'll have to go thread searching to find where I think I read that.

Also I second the sentiments expressed about the PM2 and Manix. The Tenacious is great at its current price point (I have one), and I use it as a beater/loaner knife, but it doesn't compare with the usefulness or performance of some of the more expensive models. Anything that raises the price point of the value series or Byrd line is a step backwards IMO given how much you get for your money in the Manix2 and PM2 etc. If BD1 doesn't increase the price more than a few bucks it'll be a great addition...something like S30V would likely push it too close to the higher end models to make it viable. Just my $0.02.

there must be a reason why spyderco lovers start with the tenacious and end up with a para 2! for me,i soon got tired of cutting my index finger trying to reach a non choil with the tenacious ! as most if not all my other spyderco's have a choil,i'm i the habit of grabbing my knifes with a choil, adding one to the tenacious would be grate, and a little better steel like S35VN would be a improvement,i still love my tenacious when i have gloves on.

I bought a PM2 before the Tenacious...did it backwards I guess. I wanted to see how good value the Tenacious was and to have more of a beater knife to use around the acreage (I use both my PM2's much more at work). I do think the PM2 is at least as good value for dollar as the Tenacious, but sometimes a cheaper alternative that one doesn't care about breaking can have a place in rotation. Mine sees most use around the acreage, but also as a loaner knife at work to get co-workers that don't want to spend much on a knife interested in Spyderco.

Pointless, spend another $20 and get a Delica or Endura, another $30 and a Manix 2LW. I am no fan of the China made Spydercos nor the Byrd line, the Tenacious and cousins are mediocre and the Byrds are garbage. I really don't see why people babble on and on about how the Tenacious is "a great value"...it really isn't; the Tenacious is really a mediocre knife at best. Kershaw makes many knives for less money using the same materials at lower cost, other brands like Ontario do the same (RAT, Utilitac).

If you want a really good quality and good value knife, buy something like a Manix 2LW and not some marginal quality compromise like the Tenacious family.

I'd pay that much and a bit more if the Tenacious was in 52100 besically because you can't get 52100 in any other spyderco.

Tenacious is a budget knife made in china. If you want s30v step up to the next range of knives.
