S30v Vs Dinosaur

Isn't it all about the heat treatment? I've used my Spyderco S30V knives to cut zipties with no damage countless times. I've even accidentally dropped my PM2 tip-down on hard tile-like floor and there was just very slight rolling but no chipping.

On the subject of S30V:

I've been carrying this steel for years. I've actually had minor rust resistance issues with it, but no chipping in my experience. Definitely nothing like this, either. I often reach for S30V when I want a fine cutter. A properly heat treated blade of S30V should be able to handle anything you throw at it...and Buck's S30V with that Bos heat treatment is supreme IMO. This knife needs to be sent back to Buck, this is definitely not normal.

I actually just got a Buck Vantage Pro recently, will try carrying it for a bit to see how their S30V compares to Spyderco's. So far seems promising.

You could grind a choil and still have about an inch of useable blade. Or cut a few more zip ties and sharpen the chips for some badass looking serrations. 😉😉

Don't think there is any saving that blade lol. I have thought about sending it back, I did like the knife. I'll just buy more spydies.

If you're not going to use it... I can think of an interesting project I could use it for. I'm happy to work something out with you rather than have it sit broken in a drawer for the rest of time.

Of course if you're going to send it back to get fixed by their CS, go for it. No pressure at all.

Wow... definitely send it back! No excuse for that kind of failure...

As many you know from my recent giveaway I just recently expanded to stainless... from this and similar reviews I think I'll be staying away from S30v.... whatever minor edge holding advantage it may have the chipping I am seeing from user reviews is unacceptable.
