S45 has been better in terms of edge retention for me. Magnacut should be even better.

Do you find that you need to strop after the brown rods? For me I find the opposite to be true. S35VN has a long lasting working edge but very short fine edge. I found that only using medium/brown rods on the sharpmaker leaves a more aggressive edge for my sebenza.
No I liked to keep it a bit more biteyDo you find that you need to strop after the brown rods?
I have had Magnacut and it was easier to sharpen than S45VN, but S35VN was still easier to sharpen. None of the 3 are particularly hard to sharpen, although I seemed to have bad luck trying to sharpen S45VN, it just seemed to fight me more.I’m interested in sharpening experiences of S35VN vs MagnaCut. I see a few comments that it’s a little tougher to sharpen. Would like to hear more comparisons on ease of sharpening
I like S35VN.
….work better than I do,….
You're honestly right as long as the knife world continues as it has in the past. S45 might end up being one of the shortest run of the steels CRK has done. Only time will tell perhaps, but I would assume 20 years down the line they will be sought after for collectors.SV 45 is the new Pink! Rarest of all CRK steels! Price will skyrocket soooooon........
It's true for me. I have everything from 440C to S110V and Maxamet, and although there are differences my knives live a fairly mundane life and I tend to sharpen sooner rather than later, so they all work for me.I love this comment. So true for almost all of us.
