S90V + Umbilical Cord = Awesome.

Congrats, man! Wish I would have thought of this when my daughter was born. Next one for sure!

Congrats.
But will you be able to use the knife for food prep from now on?
Got you thinking, didnt I:D

As one that participates in a lot of births, it seems odd that there are no clamps or clips in sight.
Congrats on the new arrival

Congrats.
I did that for both my girls. Or course it was clamped in two spots near the babys tummy.
But dang. I kept my ZT in my pocket LOL.
Used the scissors instead as I was in shock anyway.

I don't think they'd let me do this at the hospital, but we're going either birth center or home birth for the next one. I guess I'd better start looking for a knife now.

The picture is a bit much lol, just kidding. I remember it like yesterday.
However you are kidding right?
I was there holding her hand and keeping her cool throughout the whole process with both girls. Along with doing my work at the end. If her little 110lb frame can get out two girls for me 100% natural.. I would not miss is for the world. Every aspect of it. Although to be honest. She did not need me at all except for my presence. She is much tougher than I.

I,d have to agree,
If you're not the Doctor, then as a man you should not be anywhere near the birthing room,( or whatever they call it).
You're job was finished about 9months ago.

I'll remember that next time I'm called for a delivery or section... sometimes, though, my presence means the baby lives, or problems are minimized. Even with changing "doctor" to "heathcare professional", your comment is rather archaic. Husbands/significant others have been part of the process for some time. There are some things that don't sit right - like the grandfather-to-be filming his daughter's crotch during the birth (or leaning in for close up stills - creepy), or other children positioned at the foot of the bed and being told to watch (when they clearly don't want to) - but whole your job was done line is pretty offensive to fathers.

I had the privilege of cutting the cord (with scissors) when our daughter was born. That was and is one of the coolest memories from that amazing experience. I was with my wife the while time and wouldn't have missed it for the world. Seeing my daughter born (while holding one of my wifes legs) was amazing. Would have liked to have done the same for my son but it didn't happen. Had to call an ambulance as I was driving her to the hospital. I almost delivered the baby on the side of the road. The ambulance arrived just in time for him to be born in the back. Unfortunately I didn't get to see that one because it was so quick!

Your pic is great and so is the idea. As others have said wish I'd thought of that. Congrats on the new baby.

What the fudge is wrong with you?

Afraid you'll get cooties or something?

To the OP
I think its great you could do that I just would be too nervous to try,
As to agreeing with the disgusting part I,m sorry but I clicked your thread open as I was eating eggs and sausage links, needless to say breakfast was over.
The last part was mostly Al bundy type humor, although it seems we have some humorless among us.

From the hospital as we speak, my son was born 3-14-2014 at 2338....all I had in my pocket was a garbage Gerber F.A.S.T 06 and a Leatherman Fuse...I didn't think that either of those tools were worthy enough to bring son into the world with, so I opted for surgical scissors. =) kinda regret it now....
