Saw this on a FB page, someone's sellin' a modded Sebenza. Now I'm all for mods and even on high end knives but this is one ugly mod.

I'm seein' that some folks like this mod so I don't want to bash or put down people who are willing to mod their knives I just am not a fan of random mods that serve no pupose not even aesthetic.

Ugly as sin.

Visually, Sebbies dont really need to be messed with, as they are pretty good looking to begin with.

Which one is modded?
In case it's the holes they could be placed a bit more pleasing to the eye but it's not super bad.

My bet is it may have been dropped or had some serious damage on the ends so a decision was made to round it off, Once again not my style... But perhaps looks much better than it did.

Reminds me of my Kershaw Vapor

I don't think it looks bad. I even prefer the roundness of the ends.

Check out this superbly done cheese, with flawless compound radiuses! :)

Tastes are individual, I'm just saying I don't like it, if you're gonna mod a knife it should accent the knife in some way. This mod no matter how precise ruined the aesthetics of a nice lookin' knife already.

Looks fine, people trash stuff like this generally to seem superior as if only their preferences are right.

Is it cheaper because of those holes and roundness?(the material that's missing)

To say that modding a knife is sacrilege is silly, just alludes to the silliness of a cult around certain knives. I think the rounding looks good, and probably makes the butt more ergonomic. One of my complaints with the Sebenza is the blocky butt. I don't really get the holes and slot, but it's certainly no more ugly than some of the factory graphics I've seen.

Why is this thread in general? W&c material.

When I mod one of my knives I do it to please ME, not anyone else.

Of course if someone is selling a modded knife they shouldn't expect others to like it as much as they do. And unless their mod is some incredible improvement, or appeals to a wide variety of the knife buying public, they should expect to sell it at a loss.

Lot's of people on this forum mod their knives for their own purposes, and they often post pics. I personally would never criticize their work. I follow the old saying "If you don't have something nice to say...". Of course people are free to express their opinions. But I personally believe that some opinions are best kept to ones self.

Kinda like if someone posted a pic of their wife on this forum and I said "She's fat and ugly". That might be my opinion, but it doesn't mean I have to share it with the world, or that it's right to do so.

But that's just me. I'm not saying you are wrong to express your opinion T. Erdelyi. But it's not like the owner of that knife posted a pic of it here and said "Ok everyone, give me your honest opinions of my work no matter how harsh they might be. I can take it".
