SAFE QUEENS !!!

For some, collecting is a hobby, whether knives or something else. If they enjoy doing that and can afford it, go for it. It's nice for us observers to see what they get and sometimes learn a bit about why they choose one instead of something else. As for the cost, it could be much, much greater. Just think of Jay Leno's car collection. 🤣

Did not plan to never use my safe queens. Have many users and ones I do not use, do hope to give them work if when time comes.
For now they are a joy just to take them out of the box and fiddle with. Hope to get many more.

I have an original Gayle Bradley that I often think of breaking out and using, but stop myself. I know it’s meant to be used, but darn it, it’s too nice and not easily replaceable, so it sits.

I also have an old Military in 440V, that doesn’t see any use. It’s not pristine, but why mess it up further when I’ve got a ton of users.

Got into the hobby when medical problems got in the way of an active lifestyle! Had a lot of time on my hands and found chasing sprints/exclusives was somewhat entertaining! After 4-5 years of this I found myself with a ridiculous amount of knives, mostly Spyderco! I’ve talked to forum members and other people who’ve sold on eBay, to inform myself on the best practices to thin the herd. I just never seem to get around to actually offloading anything.😳

I’ve got about 40 or so users, many have been modded with DLC, Scales, Hardware, etc. Love making a knife “personal” and enjoy the process along the way. The rest are safely packed away with the intention of offloading someday. Been thinking about selling in groups and putting money in granddaughters 529 accounts! Don’t know if that answered OP question! 🧐

I've previously sold a lot of knives (many in groups) on eBay that I purchased earlier in my "career" as a collector. Most of them were cheap Kershaws & CRKTs. I had a lot of success in selling them for a reasonable amount of $ there.

Until recently, you had to report gross sales on eBay in the amount of $2,500 in 2025 & $600 in 2026 but these limits on longer apply. The new limit is $20K gross sales & 200 transactions which is what I think it use to be. See: https://www.webgility.com/blog/ebay-tax-reporting

I was avoiding selling anything else on eBay because of the previously low limits. I tried to sell a few here on The Exchange with absolutely no interest. So, I gave up trying to do that too.

I still have a few knives that I'd like to sell & I'll probably list them on eBay rather than here because I can still net as much or more there than I can here, despite the fees. Selling on eBay also is more convenient IMO because it incorporates PayPal (or other forms of credit card payment) & also allows you to print discounted USPS labels for shipping.

So, if you've been putting off selling on eBay, now may be the time to reconsider it.

Note: You cannot list automatics or balisongs for sale on eBay & are limited to selling them here on BF & on Reddit, Facebook or other sites where such sales are permitted.
