I now have both these knives and I can honestly say I am stumped between which one I like better!

They are both AMAZING overall F&F is perfect.

If you HAD to choose between both which one would you go with?

I have both and LOVE both

I think Sage 2 %51 to Sage 1 %49, just reading this back makes me want to just plain out put 50/50 end of story.

Please share your thoughts Sage owners and Sage owners to be!

I own both as well and agree that they exhibit exceptionally good fit and finish. As a lefty, neither one sees pocket time. However, the Sage 1 would be my choice if I were to carry one. I've never found the "half dressed" look of a RIL knife very appealing. On the other hand, the carbon fiber used on the Sage 1 is the most attractive I've ever seen and offers decent grip as well. I'm eagerly awaiting the midlock version. :D

I had both of them, but I sold the Sage 2. I did not like the scales. They were too slippery. It is a very well executed knife, but was just not for me.

I carry the Sage 1 quite a bit. I really like the "rough" CF scales.

I also have both Sages. I'll keep both of them since I'm collecting the series, but the CF Sage 1 is my user. The Ti Sage is there so I can say I have all the variants so far. I just like the look and feel of the CF version and I really like Spyderco's LL. They work well and I don't think I'll live long enough to wear one out.

I also have both, but only carry the CF Sage. It somewhat feels like a more appropriate carry knife, perhaps due to the warmth of the scales. CF is tough and resilient, while titanium may end up with scratches if it's carried with other metal objects, such as keys. However, the Sage 2 is a gorgeous knife. For now it is just a display piece, but I may carry it in the future if I manage to overcome my aversion of the RIL.

Well, you know that I only have the Sage 2 so I can't comment on how it compares to the cf version, but I'd love it if you'd post some pictures so we could see them side by side.

And congrats on the new knife.

love my Sage 2 (my EDC). Agree on the ti. It cost more than I'd like to pay for a Taiwan knife, but still it's quite something.

would love to get the CF Sage someday, but I hate thin linerlocks.

I don't have a Sage 2. I don't like the unfinished look personally. I DO think the Sage 1 is a beautiful knife. It was my first BNiB Spydie.

I only have a Sage 1, but if I had both I'd go with the RIL Sage - I just love the feel of titanium handle slabs.

I only have the Sage 2 and absolutely love it, but am interested in getting my hands on a Sage 1 at some point. Love those TI Handle slabs, though.

I only have a SageI its a keeper for sure. Now I must have a II :p

i would think the sage 2 has a stronger lock. but the carbon fiber look of the sage 1 looks nicer. i guess the only option would be to make a "frakensage". the sage CF TiRIL. that would be the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Well I've got both, and while the Sage 2 is a real sweet knife in its own right, the CF Sage 1 is a better all around knife. Just a good looking and functioning knife, and the grip is great with it's texture.

Thanks for the pics,Zippo. The cf looks good, but I'm not sold yet. On a purely aesthetic basis I prefer the RIL and open frame TI construction, but to each his own.

When I got the Sage I, I was sure it was the best Spyderco to come around in a long time. I got the Sage II because the Sage I was so good, but I didn't like all metal knives much(too much slipping). The Sage II has such a great shape, it doesn't let your hand slip. It's thinner(a plus). I do like the II better :D

Sage 2 for me. I don't own the LL version, and I doubt I ever will. Looking forward to the bolt action version!
