Sage 2 CF or titanium

Just wanting thoughts on whether or not i should pay the extra 40 or so for the titanium or if the carbon fiber is worth the saved money. I wanted to see if you guys have opinions and comparisons between the two.

For me thats tough. I am a carbon fiber junkie, but I prefer framelocks over linerlocks. If you feel comfortable using the linerlock, then I would say save the $40 and end up with a better looking knife IMHO.

I own them both, and they both are great knives. Personally, I love the titanium sage. It is absolute perfection in simplicity, function and form. A masterpiece of engineering.

I don't think you can go wrong either way but the Sage 2 Titanium framelock is one of the best sub $200 knives I've bought in several years. It's incredibly well made.
Best of luck!

I was in the same boat as you a few months back and decided on the sage 2. I enjoy the simplicity of design and the authoritative clack the lockbar makes when the knife is opened. I have no regrets about spending the extra money.

i had both. took the frame lock side of the ti model and stuck the CF slab from the other model on it. thus creating a better Sage. i love my "new" Sage

As would I! That satisfies my love for carbon fiber and my distaste for linerlocks!

Have all of them! Love them all! I actually got a Ti sage as a gift, so I have an extra so you will see it on the exchange! Let me know if your interested!

honestly leaning toward the ti sage, just hate to wait the extra time lol. But i love the simple functional look of the ti and i wanted the CRK frame lock (i didn't realize the CF didn't have it) So i guess i will wait a little longer to own the the more expensive (But i am hoping) more "worth it" knife.

Thanks for all the opinions.

Oh and i am interested in see the frankin-sage as well

Both are excellent knives, and are virtually identical in size and shape, so it really comes down to personal preferences and prejudices. Personally, I'm not fond of the unfinished look of RIL lock knives. Others like their simplicity or believe they are stronger. I don't carry either, because they're wrong handed, but I'd take a left hand Sage I over a left hand Sage II and a Chaparral over either one since I prefer midlocks.

I'm a pretty big fan of titanium myself it just seems to have a certain hard to describe texture to it I really like not to mention it is very durable and the Ti Sage 2 is a framelock which is a plus IMO.

I'll chime in. I have all the Sages and my first choice is the CF Sage because I love the CF scale's feel and how it hides scratches very well. It's light and just about the perfect size for my pocket.

I think the Sage 2 is just about perfect, Never handled the Sage 1, but I couldn't be happier with my Sage 2, plus I love Ti Framelocks.

Sage 2 is a better knife in my opinion. You can close the $40 price gap if you do some careful shopping on eBay. I picked up my two Sage 2's for about $115 each, including shipping, and they were both brand new when I got them.

Titanium framelocks are my favorite type of knife, but I have to say that in the case of the Sages, I actually prefer the Sage 1 (i.e., the CF/liner lock version). The main reason is that it's slightly thicker than the Sage 2, which I find more comfortable in the hand. I actually ended up selling my Sage 2 since it wasn't seeing much pocket time due to competition from the Sage 1.

Really, though, you can't go wrong with either one.

I didn't really care for the sage 2. For some reason the lock bar just felt kind of flimsy to me. Didnt' have that rock feeling like my other
Ti framelocks have. And not that big of a deal but the opening hole would slice peices of my nail off when I opened the blade.
It is a great edc knife though more suited for light to medium work.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, and I have no idea what you're comparing the Sage II with, but I'd like for those who might take yours at face value because they've never seen what the Sage II's lock looks like to be able to judge for it themselves...
