Sage 2 CF or titanium

Gonna swim against the tide here, but I have owned both and would go with the CF. I love me my Spydies, but IMHO, if you want titanium, the Bradley Alias II or Buck Mayo TNT are better options than the Sage II for slightly more money.

I've had the TNT didn't care for it at all but to each his own.I really like both the sage 1 & sage 2,and I kind of prefer the S1 feels more pocket friendly, love the contrast of the liners w/the black CF looks cool, like was said the Ti has a simple elegance.

Did some aggressive trading recently and ended up with a couple of Delica 4 FFGs and both the Sage 1 and 2. Awesome knives all. The Delica's are light, simple, swell slicers, and if I drop one on the ground (and I already have) the FRN handles could pretty much care less. The Sages are both beautifully put together and it's hard to imagine going wrong with either. If I had to lose one it would be a tough choice, but I think I'd let the Sage 2 go and hold on to the 1. The twill CF scales are both grippy and handsome as hell, and I'm apparently one of the few who prefers the ease of a liner lock. I'm also a bit of a weight weenie, and though a hyalf-ounce or so doesn't seem like much clipped to jeans or tossed in a winter jacket, you can definitely feel the difference in a pair of board shorts.

If you decide you're leaning towards the 2, hook up with that STRIDER cat and see what you can work out. He and I came pretty close on a trade earlier and he was definitely good to deal with.

Let us know what you end up with ;-)

I've owned both and there's no question in my mind the Sage1 is the better knife regardless of the price.

1. Better grip due to handle texture.
2. Better grip due to handle width at lock location.
3. Lighter weight.
4. Better pocket retention due to lighter weight and handle texture. (this is a big one IMHO)
5. Smoother lockup and action. Titanium on SS tends to gall.
6. Difficulty in disengaging the Framelock when closing the knife one handed compared to the Sage1's liner lock. (this may just be my technique but I found it to be a significant issue.)

I really hated how slim the Sage2 felt at the lock when using the knife and although gripping the frame lock would certainly prevent it from accidentally closing, it also felt like excessive force was being applied to the titanium lock during hard use. That's not to say the Sage2 isn't an excellent knife, it's just not for me.

Ive been wanting to try out a sage 1 for a while now but just havent pulled the trigger. Im stuck between the sage 1 or the
Caly 3 carbon fiber. I prefer the liner lock of the sage but the Caly 3 being made in America is something that does play a factor
in my choice.

Can't go wrong with either, but I think the CF Sage is better looking (love that carbon fibre!) and has a more subtle finish on the wire clip. My vote's for the Sage 1.

i was torn between sage 1 and caly 3 cf
bougth caly 3
then torn between sage 1 or 2
i just ordered one online about 10 mins ago after gift cards costed me $9 im happy

I love the sage 1, had one since last October. It was my first Spyderco knife, the first of many. I have a sage 2 being delivered today. Maybe I'll try a frankinsage, best of both worlds.

hmmm not bad, I do think i am in favor of the ti but i will not have it for a week or three (got to save ) but ill post pics and such when i get it.

alright first things first. spyderco sage series is one of my favorites in the spyderco line up. but the CF sage is the sage one to represent michael walkers liner lock. the sage 2 represents chris reeves integral lock. sage 3 is the bolt action lock by blckie collins. if you want a very classy and beautiful knife that will stand up to abuse, i prefer the sage 2. but if its a really heavy duty i would get the sage. it has a g10 handle which offers more grip and slightely different handle. i forsee the sage series as a good investment, because in 20-30 years collectors will be dying for them and its a good idea to pik up all 3 and maybe get a 4 one to abuse....?

Like many other posters, had both, but let them go. Preferred the Sage 2; ti frame lock for that price is a good deal considering the quality in fit and finish. The spydie hole also took shavings off my thumb nail when opening it, could have easily been remedied by sanding down the edge. They both would serve well as an edc.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, and I have no idea what you're comparing the Sage II with, but I'd like for those who might take yours at face value because they've never seen what the Sage II's lock looks like to be able to judge for it themselves...

Another plus for sage i have mine now and it locks up wonderfully

Both are fantastic knives, having used them - the linerlock is comparable to the framelock in strength (unless you are out to abuse the knife), so that is a non-issue. Yeah, Sage 2 is more easy to clean by spraying water jet through it than the Sage 1. So basically go for the one that you like "look-wise". :-)
