Sage 3 vs Paramilitary2

I haven't heard great things about the sage 3 so now im looking at the PM2 still and the sage 2. Benchmades are cool but i like spyder holes waaaay more than thumb studs

Personally, im not at all interested in the zip tie thing so thats not an issue. And i forgot to mention that i don't want liner lock at all. Id prefer not to have frame lock either but i could deal with it. I really like the locking mechanisms on PM2, sage 3 and benchmades axis system. The sage 3 would probably wear in after use to open and close as easy as the axis system no?
Yes, it does wear in a bit, it is my fastest closing knife I own. Of course opening it is really no different than any spydie, but one handed closing while the other hand is busy doing something else is thoughtless, safe, and easy.

Well, I currently edc a para2 or a sage 2 depending on how I'm feeling that day, and I my sage 3 should be here tomorrow so we'll see. For me the choice to get the sage 3 was essentially a way to hopefully prevent myself from needing a Ritter mini grip with Wilkins scales...I figure a knife with similar action and the same materials as the Ritter/Wilkins grip will scratch the itch...but probably not, lol. I'm sure the sage 3 is great though, I know I love the blade shape, I honestly prefer g10 to titanium, and the lock mechanism seems quite fun to play with ads well as very functional. Sounds like a home run to me.

The Sage3 does get easier to open with time but mine still isn't as easy as an Axis. When I first got mine it hurt my fingers to open it but now it's not bad but it still takes some pressure, maybe I just broke in my fingers. I've found that playing with the pivot is useful because if you have it too loose the knife bounces open or closed off the stops when you flick it unless you give the action a bit of friction. Tighten it down too much and you have no choice but use your thumb though. A PM2 is on my list as I love different types of locks so I definitely need to get a comp lock for my collection.

My Sage 3 is very easy to open and close. By far the smoothest spydie I own. It broke in nicely after one night of TV watching opening/closing.....

The pm2 is an amazing knife, and won't let you down. I also have a mini grip in D2 and love it. It is a bit small, and I usually carry it as a backup or use it when I don't want to pull out a bigger knife. The pm2 still gets more pocket time than anything else I own.

I would put my Sage 3 as my second smoothest knife, the Caly 3 takes the honors of smoothest. They have a different feel than say a Tenacious which I like to deploy fast. I like to open them slower because they are so smooth.

Para 2 blows away any folding knife Ive used before and I have a bunch of Spydercos, Benchmade and Kershaws!I have found my perfect edc knife Para 2 or Military, theyre both that good!Im not sure about S30v yet....havent used it really hard .

Mkjellgren, let me know how you like the sage 3 man. I really love the blade shape/color on it and it is smaller and lighter than the PM2 which is always a bonus for an EDC right?

I had decided on the paramilitary 2 until i found about about the benchmade griptilian made by doug ritter. Is the blade high extremely awesome on the ritter or should i just go with my gut and get the PM2 in digicam with a black blade?

I like the ritter but ehh I just couldnt get my body behind it when trying to use it hard. It just didnt feel for me. hard to explain. good knife yes, a good knife for me, no. the ritter is good if its good for you

Alas, I have decided! I shall be bequeathed a Paramilitary2 Digicam! Now all i have to decide on is if i want the black or regular blade lol

I'd say go satin over black if its an edc knife. The digi/black combo is bad ass but a bit "scary" for edc in my opinion.

On a side note, my sage 3 came today and I absolutely love it. Its easily as smooth or smoother than any axis lock I've owned or handled and I love the color. It opens and closes lightning fast. The lock to me is not difficult whatsoever to use. There is an initial stick to the lock however and the spring I'd quite stiff but I feel as though it will wear in and loosen up a bit over time. Overall I'm very happy with it and it will definitely be stealing at least some of the pm2's pocket time.

lol that means you still love the PM2. I love the black G10 with satin finish. Discreet and not overly threatening if spotted

Anyone own a chokwe? that looks like a unique and awesome knife

Yes, it is both unique and awesome! Long and straight blade, really pointy tip, thin but comfortable handle, frame lock, great edge:handle ratio, and even better with an STR deep carry clip:

True story...who doesn't love their pm2...? After handlng the blue g10 on the sage 3 its taking all that I've got to control the temptation to pick up the blue m390 pm2 before they are all gone. Then again I've bought a pm2, sage 2 and 3, a chaparral, a kiwi 3, 2 dragonflies, and a zt 0350 all in the last 2 months so I think it might be time to cool it on the knife purchases for a little while...

Congrats on deciding on the PM2 danknugs! Great spydie. My vote goes to the digicam/satin

Good choice. I cannot wait for my green, cts-204p sprint to come out!
The only reason I would say get something different now is because you will eventually get a PM2 no matter what (I ended up getting into CRKs and customs before I got my first PM2 but I still got one, and it's the only modern folder I consider worthy of rotating with the 'zaan) and you can wait for the next sprint run and not have two of the same pattern.
Benchmades are nice, everything about benchmade is good but nothing is great or that special in my opinion. Spyderco sprint-runs of the PM2 (and all their sprints) are special and some of them great!
The Ritter griptilians are special, but I hate the grip' platform. The mini-grip is too small, impossible to flip without a lanyard, and the pocket clip interferes with ergonomics; the full-size grip has cheap-feeling hollow plastic scales, the weight and balance are off, the 710/AFCK is better in every way.
