Why not just order one now and cancel the pre-order?

Edit: Never mind, looks like things worked out and they are back in stock.

finally got a chance to open and inspect my Sage 5.. holy crap, this thing is amazing. This could be my perfect knife. The size of the Sage's have always been great for me, but this one feels a little slimmer. My knife was so smooth on the first open. I can open and close this easily with one hand, the compression lock is easy for me to access. The CF is a definite upgrade from the Sage 1, both in looks and texture.

My one small gripe is that I would have preferred the darkened wire clip, but I'm happy enough just having Spyderco's deep carry wire clip. Seriously, if you're at all interested in Spyderco's or the Sage series, you gotta check this out

Mine could be here tomorrow. I really hope the lock doesn't pinch my finger pad. I discovered that the Para has enough room for my pad to get in there, so it gets pinched. My Para 1 doesn't have as much room, so it doesn't. Probably why I've had a Para 2 for years and haven't used it. Now, I wonder what the upcoming smaller Para will be like in this regard, because I really want one.

I love Sages 1 and 2 but 5 goes to the top of the list.

Great size and weight. Easy to use. Smooth. And beautiful!

I've had mine for a day and am trying to get it smoothed out. The lock tab is so strong I've been alternating between my
index and middle fingers and I'm getting blisters! Anybody else having this happen? Is there anything I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Cheers!

It shouldn't be that tough. Mine feels about as stiff as those on the brand new PM2's I've purchased. No way it should be causing blisters or make you feel like you need to alternate fingers.

I received mine yesterday and it was pretty stiff too. I kind of expected that but, for whatever reason, I also had to push the lock bar all the way over to close the knife. After messing with it for a few hours trying to break it in the tip of my finger started to get pretty sore. I finally said the heck with it and loosened the pivot screw a tiny bit. Bingo! The blade drops free and it's much easier to unlock too. It's still not quite like my PM2 but it's new. It may never drop like a PM2 due to the lighter/shorter blade.

I'm quite satisfied with mine but I think I like the Sage 1 & Sage 2 more.

but this one feels a little slimmer.

It might feel a little slimmer to you but it's actually the same thickness as the Sage 1 and both of those are a little thicker than the Sage 2

The CF is a definite upgrade from the Sage 1, both in looks and texture.

I'm not sure it's an upgrade but it's nice that it's something different. I think we're all so used to seeing that same old weave pattern that it was getting kind of old. Now when I look at the S1 & S5 together I kind of like that old weave pattern. As far as texture, when I took my S5 out the bubble wrap it felt really grippy. Almost like rubber. After handling it for a while it's not much different that the Sage 1. Maybe a little more texture but not much.

My one small gripe is that I would have preferred the darkened wire clip, but I'm happy enough just having Spyderco's deep carry wire clip.

I've thought about ordering a dark clip from Spyderco
