Sage 5 - what is it rumored to be?

Button Lock seems like the best bet.
They aren't going to honor themselves, they can't do the axis lock or axial, they've done a liner lock, and I'm pretty sure they could do a button lock.
So, I vote s30v, Button Lock, Micarta scales.
A stonewashed look would add some variety as well.
To keep the Sage 5 true to the Sage series we need to keep the same blade steel and country of origin.
The changing variables are the lock and scales, so I think a Button Lock and Micarta scales.
Would love a stonewash finish but if they want to keep it satin that's okay too.
 
I like the idea of a button lock Sage.

Would it be traditional button lock a la Hogue and William Henry or button lock in the style of the Nak-Lok?
 
I looked around but can't find any pictures illustrating the inner workings of a button lock. There are lots of pictures of the knives, but no pictures of the insides. Anyone have any pics - or can explain it easily?

May I suggest the true (Reeves) Integral Lock with the usual Spydie hole and everything? The manufacturing operation in Taiwan can IMO justify the costs of making the handle alone. Blade steel can be from CTS. To make things more interesting, they can add a flipper...
 
Well I mean the integral FL like those found in the LionSteel handle either Ti or Aluminum. It's basically milled out of a single piece of Ti. If you do it right, the lock is even stronger than a regular FL.
 
I'm dying to know too. Lots of speculation about a button lock. I don't think we'll see a compression lock. I'd like to see a Dozier Tab lock. For what it's worth, the most recent news I can find is a post on the spyderco.com forums by Sal on 7/19/12 that says the following:

We're working on one now. Still waiting for the completion of a proto. It's a very difficult model to make so no info yet.
 
Ted, think of the compression lock except that you use a button to disengage the tab out of the blade cutout.

That is how the Nak-Lok works.

The William Henry/Hogue button lock has a barbell shaped button. When the knife is closed, the tang doesn't contact the thin middle of the barbell. When the knife is open, the spring inside the button pushes the thin middle to the side and one of the thick side pieces slots into a notch on the back of the knife.

There are some videos online of Allen Elishewitz (sp?) with a disassembled EX-01 going through the parts. You can get a better idea of how it works that way.
