Any word on when the Sage II RIL is hitting the production line? Been looking forward to this one since I heard about it.

I do not remember where (maybe the Moteng site?), but I think I saw something like end of June.
So many Spydies to look forward to this year, of course the aforementioned Sage II, but also the Ti Millie and the Manix II (Eric's version, the one with the FFG blade in S90V and the CF scales).
Keep them coming, Sal!

No, it's made in Taiwan. Top grade materials, superb workmanship. You are probably not worthy to own one.

You can throw your iPhone in the bin too, it is made in China.
And BTW, did you ever hear of Taiwan? What about those Spydies made in Seki, Japan, another third world country for you, maybe?

My made-in-Taiwan Sage is probably my favorite Spyderco. I'm anxiously awaiting production of the Sage II RIL and hope the workmanship will be as outstanding as on the original.

The materials and workmanship on the Sage I have are top notch. Nothing cheesy anywhere. I have two Sages but the other one has not had the plastic bag opened yet so I haven't actually seen that one yet.

But on my user, the liners are not less refined like some cheap Chinese knives and the action on mine is flickable (but I don't flick) and the lock up is rock solid with no play either way. The blade is dead center, the CF is spot on and the overall F&F is right on too.

If you inspect this knive up close, knowing what a knife enthusiast knows, the only thing that tells you it's not from Golden is the stamp that says Taiwan.

Here's another Huzzah for the Sage. It was my first Spyderco and is one of my favorites. Like every other knife I have from our Spyder friends it's artwork in metal form.

Oooh they have the perfect smiley for this occation: :foot:

Try to check your facts before posting next time...

Got 2 Sages on pre-order so I'll know when they hit the dealers:D

Personally, I've found that Spyderco's quality control is very reliable... just my $00.02

They're kicking you all over the place for that one, but it's getting a little tiresome.

China has proven with the Byrd lineup and the Tenacious that it knows how to manufacture a quality product. The key is commitment to the product and the foundry making it, which Spyderco has.

Taiwan makes some very good production knives. CRKT had originally manufactured most of their AUS-8 knives in Taiwan with exceptional quality.

wow... super cool of you gracious fellows to fling personal insults at someone who states an opinion on a product. If it is made in Taiwan, I say "It is not for me." I have a little more pride in my knives than that. The "China" comment was supposed to be a bit of a joke...China being where EVERYTHING is made...(thanks for pointing that out LorenzoL).

Out of the last 20 knives I've bought, ONE has been an import. A Delica 4... great knife.. but I REALLY try to keep my money at home. If I DID want a "Sage" and there was a $150 Taiwan made one and a $250 Golden one, I'd spend the dough on the Golden one... that's just how I roll. To each his own... you may not agree, but there is absolutely no need to overreact!

This concludes any association I'll have with this thread.

Yeah, sorry about ragging on ya too hard :P

We just love our spydies here. It's all about quality control....something spyderco seems to handle extremely well.

Hi Archieblue,

Sorry you got pounced so hard. China these days seems to be a very touchy subject for all of the obvious reasons.

We appreciate yours as well as all other opinions. In fact we appreciate your point of view.

FYI, the steel for the Sage is made in New York. We ship it in to Taiwan.

The clip & Clip assembly is made in Colorado, also shipped in.

The design is 100% American (mine). The majority of the profit stays in America.

And, you get a very nice model.

not trying to change your point of view. Just provide more information. In my humble opinion, buying American is always best. We're growing our US factory all of the time. It's expensive to do this and some of the funds earned to do this are earned by using skilled makers in other lands.

Finding skilled makers is difficult for us. Even worldwide. there are few makers that can meet the stringent quality requirements of our customers.

I agree that I like to keep my money at home whenever possible, but something that goes along the lines of the Sage would be my second choice, where at least the materials are American.

Finely worded Sal. Very finely worded. Now back to the point of this thread everyone. I've heard Summer and I've heard end of June. Sal can you give me the actually skinny on the Sage II RIL release date?

Obviously the guy was joking. Jeez. What did Ferris Bueller say about lumps of coal in the ass an diamonds? Even if he wasn't joking, I'd have no problems with his stance. To me, that kind of attitude is what loving your country is about (well, kinda), not all this talk about keeping immigrants out and eroding civil rights in the name of national security that has been going on post 911.
