I have been wishing and hoping that Spyderco would make a nice, all Ti framelock in that signature Spyderco style that made me fall in love with folders. That day is finally approaching.

I happened upon this thread in my random browsing today:
http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35702

My breath was stolen. It's all I've been thinking about since I saw it.

It has everything:

- The full flat ground leaf shaped blade
- The trademark ergos
- The wire clip

It is everything I love about Spyderco melding with all of my favorite materials and lock preferences. I'm just blown away.

I'll be counting the days for this baby. I read it will be another five months at least.

I would embed the pictures, but I got crucified for that last time, so the link will have to do.

Great! It really does have EVERYTHING. 5 months? Even better, Peanuts is brokes and needs time to save up :D

A Taiwan S30V? Interesting.
The folks in Taiwan are a lot less resistant than the Japanese to the idea of using "foreign" steels.

I thought it was assembled in Golden.... :/

It doesn't matter where it's assembled, when you pull it out of your pocket to use it there will be a giant TAIWAN logo staring up at you.

My progression of moods on reading that.

For me the Taiwan is no big deal.

I have four or five Spydies made there, (S's and Salsa's) and the quality is on par with any Japan or Golden made Spyderco.
I have been carrying a black S as my EDC at work for several months and the only negative thing I can say is the cut outs in the blade make getting packing tape residue off a little more difficult. It locks up tight (Sal has stated that the compresion lock is not the easiest lock to produce) and is very smooth to open.
The samples of the Sage I have seen show very good quality and craftmanship. The skill of the knife maker is not depentant on where they are located.

The quality of the first Sage is top notch. I'll be buying one for sure.

True, however I still love the tang stamp on Golden knives. Especially the "Rare Earth" one on the T-Mag. :D

Many people have testified to the craftsmanship of the first one, so I think I'll jump for the second. :)

I love the whole Sage project. I'm in for at least one of each as long as I can scrounge, sell, trade, borrow to afford them. I much prefer to get 3, but it depends on the funding.

what kind of car do you drive?

2007 Dodge Ram Quadcab, and no it wasn't made in Mexico, it's the Hemi model Made in the U.S.A.(said it right on the sticker)

And while we're on the subject of cars, I'll let Langston32 explain to us why Ford, Chrysler, and GM are all bankrupt. And don't say that they don't make quality vehicles, because they do. Explain to us what happens when American's stop supporting the American economy and businesses are free to outsource to exploit cheap labor.

And for the record, I like Spyderco and will continue to support their American line, I am just bitter because I want this knife, but out of principle I won't be buying one

I wonder if the clip will eventually start to mar the Ti finish (anodized I assume) with casual use as it flexes sideways and where the frame lock portion of the scale rubs.

I love wire clips but I wonder if this is a better place for a solid clip, perhaps the same anodized Ti even . . .

All this is assuming the wire clip is steel on the prototype of course . . .

Sal has already commented that the relationship between the clip and lock cut will be changed on the production version. That's one of the reasons makers submit samples for approval first. Not sure if it's anodized or not, looked fairly much like the ti on my ATR. Titanium does scuff more easily than some materials. Just a guess, since I don't own one, but I'd think even the clip on a Sebenza, given its location, eventually scuffs the ti where it contacts the lock bar.

I agree with that. I wonder if that is one of the reasons the Kershaw JYD II Ti clip is so wide and stiff? It at least hides any scuffing if any.
