SAK addiction

I hate the lot of you people. Thanks to your constant posting of pictures of your collections, I find myself looking at several alox models, and I'm considering buying them. Some of the ones I'm seeing on ebay, like the Cadet and Pioneer can be found for $20-25, with other models going considerably higher.

There are those that're going to say $20-25 for a Cadet is money well spent. And there are bound to be people who say that's too much. And personally I don't know which to believe, considering some of the deals I've gotten, where the SAK in question costs me about $6 total.

Don't forget the Vic ALOX Solos.... I have both red and silver and they are very thin in the pocket.

The fatter ones rock too!!! (here's a few of mine)

Addict... maybe. The only thing i know is that the best Victorinox is the one that i just bought :-). I have enough of them for the rest of my life, but it is such a pretty thing with these shiny red scales :-). Still I'm happy that today i had one in mu pocket, because the hangle of my car door has frozen (temp<0deg C, snow, ice, wet and cold... winter is really not my favourite season) and the screw driver helped with the right thicknes. A little push between those plastic parts (lucky they didn't break). And the handle was operating again.

Can't say I'm an addict but I've gone to SAKs as my primary carry knives. Something great about smaller sized multi-use knives that make them perfect for my EDC purposes.

Currently carry a Class SD on the keyring and Tinker in the pocket.

Picked up a set at Menards for $15.00 with both knives, actually bought 3 sets for that price.

So I finally stopped buying SAKs long enough to get some current pictures of my collection.

This is the total assortment, minus the EDCs in my pockets

And here are the individual specimens

Swisschamp, Explorer, Camper, Fieldmaster, Huntsman, Super Tinker, Climber, Spartan, Tinker, Tourist, Bantam, Waiter, Recruit, Pocket Pal, Executive, Classic, Classic SD, Swisslite and Gardener.

Here is my latest. I could not pass this buy. A vintage Champion in Stag, with toothpick and tweezers, and the tweezers are the older metal variety. Stag has a hold on me.

I have lost more over the years than I currently own, which is about 10 or so.
I still think about some of them, 2 beautiful alox cadets, especially the autumn orange one. A blue farmer, (good thing I bought two)
The alox ones you never forget.

I was at target today and noticed they had Alox Cadets there for $25. They only had a black and a standard silver but I'll definitely be checking back to see if they get any other colors in. Just a heads up in case anyone is interested in buying "Brick and mortar."

Brick and mortar shops around here aren't an option. The only models available are the Super Tinker, Spartan, and Classic SD.

Ebay is better. Today I took possession of a Classic SD with ruby scales, a Tourist, and a Champion.

Oh definitely. So far from Ebay I've gotten 3 Classic SD's, Eco Bantam, Eco Sportsman, and a Ruby Climber (with a company logo but I don't mind) for myself. I also picked up a standard Sportsman and Wenger Handyman for my Mom. I was especially happy to find the Handyman since it was the same model she had that way getting pretty beat up. Broken scissors, cracked scale. I didn't even realize it was the same model until I got it. I paid about $5 a piece for most except the Classics. If you just need a user SAK its definitely the way to go.

Sounds more like an Ebay problem. SAKs aren't the problem, it's ebay!

My project this past weekend was making some wooden scales for my wenger ranger 61

Thanks! Made the knuckle as well. A friend who used to build guitars moved out of state and left me some great lumber. I've always assumed the piece these were made from was flame maple, but I could be wrong.

Finally did a group shot of the ALOX knives in my collection...a couple of 111mm's and a 108mm got into the pic too.
