Sak and an axe

Although I'd be happy with a SAK and hatchet I'd be mighty tempted to squeeze in my little EKA folder. I love the blade on that for woods use, and it is much easier to open / close with phat gloves on.

Yeah SAK and hatchet sounds like a great combo, I have been looking into getting one of those Fiskars, now I just have a $9 Coleman hatchet

Yeah that is a common story. Neals gap is where most people ship home a lot of their stuff. The ones who dont just leave it behind. The hiker box at Neals gap would be a great place to go if you wanted a bunch of free gear that hikers left behind because it was too heavy.

oooh oooh, that sounds neat

Thanks for all the responses guys. Diamond Dog, I switch things up quite a bit, questing for my ideal setup..once I fnd it I'll be getting rid of most everything else, I've alreadytraded away alot of the pieces that weren't right for me....

I know what you mean. I always have a hard time deciding what to take. My problem is I try to keep it simple...but I end up usually taking more than I need!! Oh well :)

A big SAK and hatchet sounds like a great camping combo. In the summer when it is time for my annual motorcycle camping trip, I plan to use a SAK (either an Outrider or SI) and hatchet. However I have to admit that my Northstar might sneak into a saddlebag too, just because I like it, there's room, and it hasn't been out overnight yet . . .

Last summer my motocamping combo was mostly a Mini Canadian, hatchet, and Spirit multitool. The multitool was convenient but redundant since there is a comprehensive tool roll stowed on the bike.

Hope that Rucksack works out well for you Riley!
A SAK and an axe sounds like a good combo.

I might try the Outrider and my Wetterlings together when spring gets here.
I'll probably succumb and bring a mora along too, force of habit i guess.
lol.
