SAK - I just don't get the attraction

Interesting...
I don't what type of knife you typically carry, but in actual everyday use, there's really nothing that my Buck 110 or my Chinook II can cut that this Adventurer can't.

Give the Opinel another chance....maybe you just got a lemon.
Or I suppose it could be your sharpening method?
My Opinel, while not the BEST knife in my collection (IMO), is probably the sharpest knife in my collection.
Its cutting performance is simply outstanding.

Right now I am carrying a BM Skirmish. And I can think of a lot of things that it can cut that that little thin blade can't cut. Thick cardboard for one thing.

And life is too short to give that junky Opinel another chance.

That "little thin blade" would excel at cutting thick cardboard. :D

Thicker blades meet more resistance. The SAK blade is more like a razor.

Umm, sorry, I need to state the nicely, but WTF? ALL SAK's, locking, or otherwise, slice through cardboard amazing easily, and since the blades thin, even if the edge is dulled, it will still cut much better then a dull pig-stabber. ;)

I agree...

I cardboard cutting, I tested a Vic Soldier, a Kabar Dozier Thumbhole Folder and a Byrd Meadowlark. (I didn't yet have my Opinel #8 carbon.)

The Soldier was the best--by a substantial margin.
People have different experiences, I guess.
