SAKs, Leathermans vs. Single blade folder (like a Spyderco)

My edc combo for several years has been a multitool paired with a dedicated cutter - either a folder or small fixed blade.

My favorite is the Vic Spirit and BM Mini Grip. The Mini Grip handles quick cuts, the Spirit does everything else.

I love the classic ALOX Soldier paired up with a decent folder. That's my edc every day. I bet I use the Soldier more than the folder though. I like Leatherman style multitools but I'd never edc one, too big in pocket and I can't get used to anything like that on my belt. If I was stranded on a desert island I'd probably want the SAK, more versatile and I can sharpen its non-super steel on a rock.

Got a nice Leatherman - never gets used.
Got a nice Swiss Champ - sometimes gets used.
Got a nice selection of folders - always get used.

For my day to day needs, a folder is the fastest and easiest.
I agree. It's also the most reliable.

Well, I often change my EDC knife. But at every day i carry a SAK in my pocket (Huntsman or ne soldier knife). If i don´t i know i will miss it.....They are highly practical but not very cool ;-)
