Sal - please fix "gmail.com" email domain being "banned" on the Spydero forums

But none of this helps us talk Rat into joining Spyderco.com forum...with a cool avatar like his, we just have to have him come aboard.

I have the same problem. First I tried a Hotmail account, and than a Gmail account that someone gave me especially for the Spyderco forum. Doesn't work:(
Now I only read the forum, can't post anything:rolleyes:

Tom, just contact Kristi and she'll fix it for you. or just use your internet-provider account email....

we need more Europeans on the forum, come on man! :D

E-mailed Kristi today, she is fixing it.
Great service, in a few days there will be another dutch guy on the Spyderforum:D

I really like using GMail too. I just forward the email from my service provider e-mail account to GMail.

I had the same problem when I signed up. I hate using my internet provider's email. but I had to. And guess what, not even a month after I signed up comcast gets bought out by Time/Warner and my email address changes.... But the hotmail address I've had since 1999 has remained the same, gives me more storage, ability to send larger attachments and I can use outlook (paid account), why bother with ISP email?

But I suppose there is a "net gain" when you compare the amount of real people with internet based emails dissuaded from joining vs the amount of spammers you block from accessing the message boards. A different board I belong to has atleast a dozen spammers every day, selling cellphones and Ipods, all that junk.

 That's exactly why I don't have an account there, and I'm a huge Spyderco supporter.

But if of course, if one were to read this thread; it is clearly demonstrated that real humans need only contact the great Taz for the golden ticket.

See you in Spydie land. ;)

I was thinking of joining spyderco forum - but I didnt have a the "right" e-mail system.

But some recently, not so intelligent..., self defence discussions made me not want to join anyway. ;)

Sigurd,
Every forum has it's ups and downs. I would hope that you would not let a couple of threads deter you from joining the Spyderco.com forums. You're input would be welcome there!

If you need assistance joining (this goes for anyone else who would like to join, but has a free email address) just contact me at khunter@spyderco.com and I'll take care of it.

Kristi

Yet it has months and months and thousands and thousands of threads that are informative and fun.

Sometimes people let past feelings flare up into new nonsense. Overall that forum has a healthy reputation for friendliness nearly unmatched elsewhere. Since you obviously lurk over there, hopefully you won't let a small flareup bias you from further use.

Hope to see you over there. :)

Thanks Tazkristi and zen,

you are right. The spyderco forum seems, in general, to be a friendly, informative, fun and nice place.

I will send a mail to you Tazkristi, and try to contribute with some good post in the forum.

I waiting for a Endura 4 to be delivered, my second spyderco :) (first is Fred Perrin bowie) very satisfied with it. I even talked, via mail, with Fred about it.

bye for now
Sigurd.

Gmail is banned? It's one of the better free email services. You need to be invited to get a gmail account, although I'm sure spammers find accounts for themselves, but probably not as bad as hotmail and yahoo mail. Many computer savvy people have gmail now. It's one of the more "in" email services to have. Banning gmail is not smart in my view, but what do I know, I just work for a Top 1,000 website. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that you don't need to be invited any more.

I just looked and it seems you have to give your phone number..does that count as getting "invited"?

In regards to Gmail in general...if many computer savy people have gmail now, and you consider all spammers are computer savy people, I would say the ban makes sense. But what do I know, I do not work for a Top 1000 website. :D

My point was the people with Gmail accounts are probably the types of people you want as customers. To ban them is idiotic. That is like banning people wearing suits from a Mercades dealership because salesmen who might come in and try to sell you crap also wear suits, yet a lot of people who wear suits buy Mercades.
