Sal, police,military......,firefighter?

As hideous as it might be, perhaps a multi-colored handle might be a good idea. Could it possibly be a single stripe on a field of red/orange/yellow?

I'm not saying orange and green, but orange/yellow and red wouldn't be too bad...if you're worried about it getting lost. It could end up being an ugly knife, but an effective one nonetheless.

Then again, I could be smoking something.

Just got back from the Adirondacks, glad to see this still going. Joel I second everthing you said.I have tried to sharpen more pos knives for guys than anything else. There is hope, the last few years I have seen more and more quality knives. In my firehouse you can find Spyderco,Benchmade and Cold Steel among others. Its no coincidence that the guys who carry these work with the biggest knife nut on the job.Once guys get exposed to quality they'll be more likely to by it.Also the guys who will spend the money for a good knife all have expensive hobbies already( hunting, woodworking, fresh and saltwater aquariums ect.) So I guess its a matter of exposure and education to get those who will spend for quality.

Actually, green might not be such a bad choice for the handle color. When we were studying optics, it was mentioned that yellow and green were the two colors the human eye picks up easiest. It'll look kinda strange when you see it, but you can see it.

Some of us..having played with the PM's and the fire Rescue guys..think that the knife should be sort of indestructable..the guys using the knife, such as fire-rescue NEED to be able to abuse the knife to save lives..theirs and others...
again..that makes it important to be able to do whats not advisable with other knives, prying, jamming, and ripping, matter seperation of the most serious kind...
re-enforced tips with full thickness webbing down to the point, large accesible handles..egonomically designed NOT to slip with blood, water, gas, oil...
glass break capablities...
KINETIC opening..to compensate for gloves...
compression locks to save fingers.the ultimate SIMPLE lock....
Ok..
enough soap box from me...
safety ORANGE color!!!!!!
